Default universal shaft cushions

I finally built my m05 today with all my hop up goodies
unfortunately however, during assembly, I managed to snap one of these little cushions in half while slipping it over my dog bone

they came with my 3 racing gear diff.

1. Should I run these things/ do I need them?
2. do hobby shops generally stock these?

Yes, you need them, otherwise you can ruin the universal or diff/spool.

Most shops carry them, but there are different sizes.

the thicker your oil, the more frequent you need to change them. Or you could go for steel outdrives which you run without the c-blades/cushions

whelp, none of the hobby shops I went to had them :/
I'm using some pretty thick oil, 300k
The 3 racing gear diff has steel outdrives though

You need to get some. Missing that part will destroy the outdrive in a couple of laps.

Ask the hobby shop if they have some for another sedan. Tamiya uses two sizes, Associated uses them too.

well I went to 2 shops, and neither shop knew what I was talking about. I'll just order some online
What the hell else are they called? the 3 racing ones are the only ones I can find.

Tamiya calls them a "swing shaft protector".

tell them you are looking for the plastic caps a dogbone/driveshaft. Take one of the shafts and one of the cushions with you. If they sell r/c stuff, they'll know what it is.

Another common name is "C Blade"

Normally either 3, 3.5 or 4mm width.

Here is a link to the 3.5mm 3racing ones;

When putting them on, use a little shaft grease - less chance of breaking when putting them on (they will still brake when driving though!)
