Default Radio preference

Ok its time for a new system. I am a wannabe factory driver meaning i dont have have the skills but i want the gear. Anyway I dont really drive enough anymore to justify that so i was looking at the Spektrum radio. Just a little leary of the problems i have heard. i am running a lynx 3d synthesized right now and have a few novak recievers and have never had any problems but the radio is literally falling apart. The KO is also high up on my list but i am open to any cautions or suggestions. Thanks in advance.

KO Propo Helios is the way to go. The transmitter is balanced, easy to use and has been very good at avoiding any interference, the servos are second to none and of course you can't beat the customer service.

Rob (KoPropoStaff on rctech) is always ready to answer any questions.

P.S. Tell him you work at the Elephant Bar..he might give you a discount!! (inside joke)

I'm using the EX10 helios with Spektrum, on three of my cars, 2 MTX3's and an NTC3. The radio is the best i've ever used. What I did before I decided on my radio, was look at all the features of the "pro" radios, and how they felt in my hand. The EX10 has the best feel out of all the radios. It just fits. Features wise, its right up there with the M11. I love how I can control throttle and steering speed. I've seen quite a few EX10 with spektrum, go around for 300 shipped. I bought a used one here, for 300 shipped.

I have the regular Mars, and I love it. It's a rock solid radio that won't let you down. And the features list is endless! There's actually a few Mars R's and Mars going on eBay right now, at extremely cheap prices... Here's the list I found:
http://toys.search.ebay.com/mars_Rad...Z1QQsacatZ2562

And if you look at the completed listings group, you will see a TX, two RX's, and *5* (yes, five) sets of crystals went for $115! You can't beat that. The other plain vanilla TX and RX sets went for less than $50. And if you look at the features list, you will see it isn't a BS radio. But that's just my opinion...

I am realy leaning toward the Spektrum, especially since the msx conversion for my 415 is going to be around $300. I really dont know if i would ever use all the feaures that the helios and m11 have to offer. Thanks for all the input though

Just keep in mind that just like the conversion kit you are getting for your Tamiya, upgrading a radio later will certainly be costly. Might as well get the best you can from the get go.

KO EX-10 Helios, the best propo I've ever used. Light weight and very balanced. Put a Ly-po battery in it, you will get the lightest high-end propo in the world. Paired with KR-302 receiver, the steering will feel more direct to the car.

That Radio(DX3)Is based on the old JR XR3(I had one..never did like the way it felt in my hand)I have a few high end Radios Futaba 3PK(2 of them.. )JR R1 and a KO Helios, and an M8..the Helios has the best feel of all the Radios I own.The thing about the Hi end Radios is at first you might not use all of the features but after you get used to the radio you will start using more and more of the features. The radio is a tuning tool as well, you can get your car to the point of not being able to drive it..all through your radio.. I(maybe it's just me)would buy a Helios add the spectrum before I would buy the MSX kit for the 415,and the reason for that is i feel that a high end Radio makes more of a difference in the the way you drive than what the up grade kit does..bottom line the X kit makes it easier to work on your car.. And the top of the line makes it easier to drive your car..
