Diff looks very xray especially the drive cups and if they are alu drive shafts, they have moved away from the grey to give us a more blacked out car. Nice touch

I know it's minor and I think too much but I wonder why he's gone away from the counter sunk screws holding the shock tower and used button heads there?

I believe XRAY diffs fit, but the spacing on the bearing holders is a bit off. I'm sure there's a way to shim it so there isn't excessive play. I had a spool for the VBC car (XRAY cloned diffs) and it fit ok.... had side-to-side play, but perhaps just using flanged bearings to make up the difference would work.

If that shock tower is simply flipped (countersunk holes facing bulkhead) then the objective might be a tad more flex, as the countersunk holes adjacent to the bulkhead mounts means less surface area of CF contacting aluminum.

Also notice the 2.5* rear toe and rear pro-squat (I think it's called?).

The black axels are X-ray same as the diff, the X-ray outdrives use a bigger ball end so you can't run the Serpent axels with the X-ray diff or the axels will bounce in the cups. Bill Sydor did this as well as running the bigger idler gears at one point.

The shocks look more like Yokomos to me and the rear shock tower is a tall one, they didn't have the counter sunk holes in them. **Probably running the two hole front arms so he doesn't have to run the older gen front shock tower.

***After getting a better look at the car, he has the XH arms on the car, but it looks like they have been re-drilled to move the lower mount out farther.

Also some creative redrilling for the front body post mounts.

It's all just wild speculation on my part but that's what it looks like to me. Discuss, lol.

The site says the shocks have "more volume", so whether that is just indicative of body length or an increase in diameter who knows. If the Yokomo shock body has a larger diameter than Serpent's, I'd guess you can run our shock shaft with it to have a larger overall volume while retaining the short shock length.

I don't think the ti-nitride coated hingepins are necessary but they look cool

I wonder why the Xray diff/axles? I have never had and problems with the Serpent Diff. Lighter weight maybe?

XRAY diffs are really light, and pretty much bombproof. I like to keep as many OEM parts on the car as possible but if something better works then go for it!

I'm not sure if I can post a link to ebay here, but you can simply search for serpent s411 eryx 3.0

But if you look at this pic, it does not look like any extra shimming?
Also if you look at the axle part that goes in to the rear upright is different then the normal serpent axle.

If you mean the silver retainer for the axle pins, thats a option part by either Serpent or other sources. I think this part was discussed several pages back if you looking for the part number. A alternate to that part is the collars that come with the nylon spool, fyi.

Here is a good article summarizing Victor Wilck's ERYX 3.0 setup that he ran at the Reedy Race.
