I don't expect a new kit anytime soon. I think the 3.0 will remain this season with perhaps the odd upgrade here and there as normal. Don't think twice the car is fantastic. Go for it!

Hey Les, I am up for a new kit and I spoke with Jay at Walters this week and no revision of the kit is expected till July this year. I thought maybe with the toy show in Germany at the end of January there might be a new release so I had Walters ask Serpent the question.

Hi Ben,

Yes I read you had a damaged car unfortunately, but always a buzz getting a new kit, thanks for sharing info on car update.
Enjoy your racing.

Cheers
Les

Due to my damaged alloy I ended up rebuilding all the light weight bits from my 3.0 onto a 2.0 hard carbon chassis for my club racing Friday night. It was fantastic and I TQ and won all 3 finals. I Dropped a tenth off my hot lap and picked up an extra lap with no mistakes. Possibly due to getting used to the layout but the tires are a full 10 runs older and I dropped 2 pinion teeth and 5 degrees on the can of my R1. Fantastic motor if your running blinky guys. Only a motolyser tweaked and hand built D4 is faster here.

The carbon though, It does not feel as planted as the alloy car and does not transition the sweeper as consistently. But still super quick against all the xrays and yokomos my competitors are using. Love this car.

That's what I'm finding. I tried the 2.25 carbon chassis on my 3.0 after running the alu chassis for quite some time. I ran with and without the rear stiffner tube. Actually I preferred it with the carbon chassis with tube than the alu chassis. The car seemed sharper. For sure it had less overall traction and was more on edge and so harder to drive but it was quicker over 5mins. The alu chassis setup is much easier to drive but at the moment I'm liking my 3.0 on carbon. This is on med/high grip carpet.

They are close. I want to say less then a 10g difference, but it has been a while since I checked. Alum is heavier.

It was posted elsewhere that the difference is about 30 to 40 grams.

****That could be the weight difference between a 2.0 and a 3.0 roller. Not just the chassis. Sorry to mislead.

The max size for a pdf attachment is 480-ish, but my setup sheets are around 600. If someone can tell me how to easily re-size them I can post my Snowbirds setups here. If not, they should be posted on Serpent's site this week.

Well.... I didn't place as well as I had hoped. I ended up in the B-mains for both stock and mod TC. The cars felt great early in the week, but I think I didn't tire-prep properly. The track felt more greasy as the week went on. I was using SXT the entire time, but it didn't seem to do much. It appears that LGC would've been the better way to go, as it is more aggressive on the tires, and in my experience tends to "agree" with other compounds better on the racing surface. I initially thought that there were some small issues with my setups, but they were both awesome to drive and handled well. I just didn't have that "connection" to the track that I've had on really high-bite surfaces. I labeled traction as "medium" on my setup sheets because it lacked that distinct tackiness I've felt at other events.

Oh well! Awesome learning experience either way. Both my B-mains had former or current champions in them, so the fields were incredibly deep. I ended up 12th overall in stock, and 14th overall in mod. I don't think my performance was hampered by the cars themselves.... these are the best setups I've had on them so far. I drove inconsistently and should've handled my tires better.

I just checked Petit RC's Database for Serpent Eryx 3.0 setups.

Here's a link for Cody Woods' Snowbirds Nationals Stock Setup.

Both setups are under the same link, so just scroll past the stock setup to see the mod one.

And a few of the blanks didn't show properly on the mod setup. That car had long camber links front and rear, shock position at the 3hole front and rear, a spool, and 4* caster.
