Tamiya USA has them in stock. My LHS has one on the shelf.

Banzai has them, as do a couple of HK suppliers.

Banzai no longer has it on their site. If so, I can't find it.

Default Noisy drive train

Hi, anyone have tips to reduce the noise of the drive train? Everything runs smoothly, without binding, but it sounds like a blender!

I was told that the Awesomatix is also very loud in this configuration as well. Maybe its just the design. It doesn't seem to hurt performance.

From what I heard, the sound is generated by the slop between the spur and the bevel gear attached to it. If you can make that area solid, the sound should get quieter. One trick is to use a small piece of plastic sheet (packaging) and sandwich it between the spur mount and bevel gear (where it keys in). Also use shims as necessary to loosen up the tolerance between the two bevel gears.
This link shows some pics as to what the guy did. Words all in Japanese though

Not sure how a stock evo6 sounds like, but compare it with the car in this vid that did the mod. Red car in lead is the evo6

Those damn center gears are problems. Here people running 4.5T and those gears worn out the second turbo kick in... For me, I put on a 10.5T, those gears lasted only for less than two laps! Some owners are swapping out the bearings in the main gear hub in hopes to beef up the drivetrain with no luck... Already several drivers call quit and sold their cars here, all lasted less than 10 laps on the track... And when it run, it sounds like a blender, and I thought my A700 EX was loud until this, and it doesn't turn like my 418 out of the box... this TB 06 is a disappointment if you ask me

Don't tell me how it goes, Fusion have rung me today to tell me they can't now fulfill my order as HobbyCo have screwed up and the one they had coming in now isn't. I am not a happy person.

I use 54593 Carbon Reinforced Gear Set Parts
run 6.5T is 10 times the battery (about 130~150 laps)....is ok~

But 13458130 spur gear seat ball bearings can not be replaced

Never say never but after speaking to HobbyCo I know there are 2 sides to every story so I'm not p****d off now. It's just one of those things. I would say 99.9999% there will be no more coming unless Tamiya do another run before they pack away the tooling. And as we've seen with other Evos - most lately with the FF03 Evo - it's unlikely they'd do that. Of course you can't rule out Tamiya doing a fresh run next year in a slightly amended spec like they've done with the TB04 Pro/Pro II but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Different topic but do you think there's a market in the UK for the 05v2? No one at our club is getting one, the majority of us have switched to the M06 since earlier in the year. Those who have indicated an interest are biding their time for the chassis and arms to be released as spare parts and will just convert existing (and unloved) v1s.
