If you never seen a 50T pinion, I don't know what to say.

Chris, you are funny. I need to visit tamiya soon.

Default Gear for 17.t blinky

Dear anyone:
Could somebody tell me what gears(48p or 64p) and fdr should use to run on 17.5 blinky class, please?

Best regards

This car looks very very tempting, but what's with the Tamiya obsession to have a transverse mounted motor in a shaft drive car? I know torque steer reduction will be mentioned but don't most of the Awsomatix drivers use a longitudinal motor mounting and do great with them? Seems to me that adding another 90 deg angle to power transmission negates some of the efficiency advantage that shaft drive offers.

It also pushes the motor mount/motor quite a bit towards the side of the chassit which is the opposite of where TC design has been heading.

Aim for low 4's with most motors, assuming blinky. High 3's if the track is big. I run a 418 in 13.5T blinky on a rather larger track and run at 3.91 - and the car is no slouch.

Say, 66 spur, 40 pinion as a starter. Just realised the stock spur is also 66! Don't use it with a 48p pinion though, it will eat itself, it's tamiya metric 06 pitch, which is close, but not equal to 48p.

Tamiya don't make an 06 module pinion that is large enough from memory.

Default 13.5 Gearing

The Evo6 uses normal inner width spurs. An overall thin spur would be ideal. 418/BD7 inner width spurs will need a spacer. For 13.5 on a medium sized track, an 84 spur and 52 pinion will give you a starting point of 4.038 with plenty of room to adjust.

But hey...what do I know

How maximum pinion gear could use it?

Don't know, but I'd imagine that with the design of the mount, anything fits with the right pinion/spur combo. I choose an 84 spur for a range that'll let me use a 17.5 and 13.5. In the picture, you can see there is room in the motor screw slot for bigger pinions.
