Guys, is there really a $100.00 difference between the 2 kits? Parts are not an issues as I can get both local. Club level racing only. Thanks for your input!

If you know how to tune then the tc 6.2 will do fine. However if your still new than the xray. Will be easier dfor you to drive. Also the xray is better quality. However I still am righr on par if not faster than the xray guy. Tuning and knowing what you like to drive is the key.

The $100 is easily worth it. Keep in mind the plastics on the AE need to be replaced more often than the Xray, so that is an added cost that most people don't factor in. In addition to more wrench time.

The quality is much better on the XRay. I raced my T4 extensively for over a year and there is minimal wear.

With that said, either car are top contenders and will not hold you back in any way. I just like a car that is better built thats all. Even the asian manufacturers (ARC, VBC) have better quality than AE these days.

Actually if I had to do it all over again, I would probably get an ARC or VBC car.

XRAY may cost $100 more for the kit and maybe even twice as much for the parts, but in my opinion their level of quality is worth far more than that. It's the only chassis mfg. that I would even consider taking a sponsorship from. I've been spoiled by using their products for the past couple of years. Now every other brand is disappointing in comparison, especially the plastics.

+1 on what everyone is saying about quality. Plus as was said about tuning, if you know what you're doing, you can make the tc6.2 fast, but the t4 '14 is easier to tune.

I can only speak for myself, but my bd7 has been plenty durable. I beat it to death and have only broken once or twice mainly due to the axle sticking out past the wheel nut. I cut them flush and haven't broke since.

The only other consideration is that the T4'14 will very likely be replaced late this year by an updated car. The TC6.2 probably has at least another year before an update of any sort.

Is that a bad thing for Xray? They also include updated parts, when they make a running change, into new kits mid year. Where others make you buy the parts separately or wait until the "new" car, which is really just the old car with the updated parts included like some companies do.

Well companies, after market companies as well as current manufacturer companies are working on "option parts". With that being said for AE they make fairly major changes between whole numbers, changes in between the decimal numbers. Also for AE they have been coming out with a different or newer update for their cars about every year. I think they might do a 6.2 WC instead of a 7 because well no one company has made a huge break through with their CURRENT models and as we all have seen. Each time one company finds a better way of doing something each of the other company jumps on that ship. I am looking forward to the "next generation" of T.C.

I'm expecting we will see a shift away from battery on right, electronics on left soon.

No one is really taking advantage of the fact lipos don't need to be made the same approximate width/length/shape as 6 x 1.2V battery cells.
