Default Spec R S2

Looks like the Spec R S1 will be getting some new changes.
Spec R S2 should be released in early April.
Looks sweet for an entry level TC!

The S1 was a great car, hopefully this will be even better.

Add some roll bars and alloy wheel hex's and you've got yourself a very competitive club racer.

Even cheaper than the s1! But for the difference they could have included swaybars lol.

For this money you can't go wrong, the car looks great .
Even for me as a big tamiya fan i'm considering to buy one, just as a training car besides my TRF418

I'm curious as to what is different about the new HD diff compared to the diff that came in the S1/R1. I'm thinking of installing a diff in the front of my S1 VTA car, and am wondering if I should go with the new diff, or old one.

Considering it has lower shock towers, does it use the shame shocks as the S1?

Same shocks and springs. Just the tower is lower. Though can be good depending on how much downstop you like to run.
I found it tough to get enough down travel in the rear with certain shock positions.

I think the diff is just their version of the xray diff

Default Noob to On road and just ordered an S2

Ok so I've raced stadium trucks off road for a whole and I wanted to give on road a try so I just ordered a Spec-R S2 from TQ. stupidly I missed the pre order notice and focused on the "in stock ready to ship" line, DOOH!! While I'm waiting or my kit I've been reading the R1/S1 board a ton and have a few noob on road questions about installing a front gear diff.

First if I replace the spool with a front gear diff does it change the 1:1.9 ratio and of so how do I figure out the new ratio to help set my FDR. Second is it the same gear diff that is in the back or is it a diff part number. And third can I mix gear diffs, like order a better quality one for the rear and throw the current stock one in the front.

I know these might be dumb questions but honestly I never had a spool to deal with in my losi XX-T or 22T lol. Any help would be great thanks.

Geardifs.probably have the same tooth count so as.long as you buy a spec r r1/2 geardif everything shoukd be fine. No real details on what makes the new dif different yet so I probably wouldn't really wait if you wanted to buy a sexond dif.
I don't think you will have a problem with the dif quality wise just buy some shims and shim it proper when you build it.

Valk thanks for the info. So if I read you right I would install the same gear diff that is in the back in the front. Just use a heavier oil. Build the front and back gear diffs the same otherwise?

You mention shims. Everything I read so far mentions shims like crazy. I almost never had to shim my off road kits so new to the shim world. Guess I need to stock up on various sizes.

My plan for the build is to go to the indoor onroad track/hobby store near me and pay the practice facility fee and assemble my kit there so if I need parts or help they are there lol.

Been buying random parts I prob don't need for the S2 because I'm bored waiting for it to get shipped. Already bought the red aluminum steering rack, pully set, servo holder, turnbuckles. Lol
