Yup I'm going to run with spec r now. I did order some parts with rcmart. I know that they are all most the same. But spec seem to keep upgrading all there chassis's. Look forward to racing in Sept.

I will say this.... with no details of the next s model that is coming, and limited stock of s2s everywhere... I'd buy an s2 assuming to run it how it is and not upgrade it. I have a feeling if they release an s3 this year it might have more in common with an r2.
Your good for suspension parts ect but don't plan on upgrading to carbon fiber and aluminum ect. Unless of course you stick to r1 parts.

Since there's no stock any place should I wait to pic up a new s-chassis. I really don't need it until Sept. For wcics. ?...Humm I will give it some more thought.

its really hard to say what you should do. for what an s2 costs, id just get it from tq or reflex and run it. even if the new platform is different, i can almost guarantee it will use 90% of the s2 parts..
even in the case of the r2, the changes were mostly in the bulkheads and upper/lower plates. everything else was compatible from an s2. so what most people do is buy an r2 and an s2 as a parts car. its often cheaper than buying all the parts individually.

there is no offical statement of a new car but spec r is pretty bad about advance notice. i didnt even really know about the s2 until you could buy it.

id expect shorter shocks with plastic bodies MAYBE. you might get the single sided motor mount but i dont see it working too well if it follows the s1/2 design for the motor mount and materials. they might change the bulkeads, but maybe not. would mean new molds.

you should just get an r2 lol.

dont know how the diff is in the s/r2, but the diff that came with the r1 required at least 3k oil.

tried it with 1k and 2k, but it just made the rear spin out of the corner, i would say that 3k oil is a good base to start with. (17.5t)

if you are running a xray diff 2-5k oil depending on motor and track.

I'd agree to that. The gears are smaller in the r1 dif as well so it prob feels a little different.

get an r2 its really not that much more if you factor in upgrades to the s2. I think you would be happier with it for longer. maybe look for a used r1? i got both of mine for $175 usd a peice with a TON of upgrades.. i actually made money when i sold them and various parts to clubmates.
