Even though Trinity's site says:
The rotor of the Co27 stock was designed to work with the new generation of 3800/4200 mAh batteries from Intellect.
I'm fairly certain that is just a marketing gimmick to get everyone to buy the new motor. It will peform wonderfully with your 3300's.

Personally, I find that the CO27 and Epic Roar are two must have motors in our toolbox. Both of these motors are great, and both are now legal in ROAR.

This is my two cents.

My EA co27 goes like stink with GP33`s which are about a year old now
raced last night to good effect
sure has a lot of low down grunt
gearing wise i ended up 5 teeth bigger on pinion then i would roar ,4 bigger then monster

roar to monster is around 1-3 teeth diffrence (depends on track layout aswell) but roar has smaller pinion to make use of the rev`s it produce`s

It's not really a gimmick..... There is more material on the arm so it doesnt fade so damn easy. With the super high voltages we have with the IB 3800's and other similar cells it puts so much power into the motor they fade. When there is a little more material on the arm it creates a slightly more efficient motor.... so it wotn fade a whole lot more.

Currently I'm running a c027, I am gearing about 3 teeth higher than a monster and I have almost zero fade in the run. Last time I raced the difference form my fast lap to my slowest lap was 3 tenths of a second. With a monster it would always go flat in the middle of the run and I would have to do some various brush cuts to keep it from doing so.

They will still work great with 3300's though.

Exclamation CO-27's

I got the off the shelf Co27 two weeks ago and haven't gotten very good results. Racers running monster motors still have more top end then me. Not by much but you can see the difference. I am faster in the infield, so I like that. Seems I'm running about 5 teeth taller than the monster!

I just purchased an EA CO27 and see if I can pull on those monsters this weekend. I've never been dissappointed with EA Motors! I'll post results this weekend!!

Rebuild your off the shelf one with some good brushes, true the comm, align the hoods, etc.

I found that the negative brush hoods seem to be off a little when aligning them out of the package on the Trinity ones.

Springs don't need to be changed often. You should get a Sonic FiddleStick II to simply monitor their spring pressure from time to time.
The CE TurboDyno 30 or 45 is the best dyno since it's the only one that uses a controlled load and can use a power supply for consistency. You can only get them used now.

Thanks for the info....

I was reading on the Rookie form, that Nitro engines are only good for 3 to 6 gallons, WOW that is short... I think I will stay with Elec...

The question is how long until Brushless takes over at the standard, before I invest to much.....

If you got that off the Rookie form then that's not true. This is my 3rd year with my Mugen X12 and I have more than 6 gallons in it. I also have a MT12 that I have had for 4 years I think it has gotten stronger.

Brushless is going to be in our future for sure. I personally think it will take over as the standard. No maintainence, more efficient, and less possible speed variations. New racers will like it. It will take away some of the veteran racer's advantage since veterans can tune motors and have better tuning equipment than a new racer. But in the end, it will be good for the hobby, as it will help to level the playing field and the focus will be shifted a little more toward driving skills. I am really looking forward to slower brushless motors that can be used for stock racing. Right now, it seems the brushless motor of choice that most club racing has agreed upon is the Novak 4300. Novak's website claims this is like a 27T stock brushed motor, but that simply isn't the case. An outstanding brushed stock motor can put out 130W of power. Whereas the Novak 4300 puts out 175W of power. 175W of power is closer to 19T brushed than stock brushed. I'm really looking forward to seeing a brushless motor that produces 130W or less.

Anyway, the good news is, the LRP Sphere and Novak GTB allow for brushed and brushless motors. And check out this connector I made to easily switch from brushed to brushless.

No argument from me... but here is the link for your viewing... I'm not a gas person, so I do not know what is fact or not, I just thought this was very interesting, but you disagree, which I hope you are correct...
