Thumbs up Very Reliable..

Ran two flavors of the R1 Wurks this past weekends TCS event. No lack of grunt from either the 21.5 or 17.5

competing againts the likes of the uber-fast KillsHOT, Orca and the other must-have motors my R1's held their own very easily.

looking forward to experimenting more with them.

Was running R1 21.5 for TCS GT3 class. Great power at 3.3 fdr and 28 timing. One of the faster car on the lot but too bad I couldn't hold it together. Still need to experiment with gearing and timing. I heard more timing and higher fdr will produce more rip.

This is true. In 17.5 I was running a 3.5ish fdr and 30 to 35 timing and car was fast. I did just change my fdr to 3.8ish and timing at 35*. I cant wait to test it on the track cuz the car feels like a mod. Good luck to all going to Reedy. I know this motor will be in the top 3 in stock classes.

This past weekend in 17.5 I started with a 3.58 fdr 35* timing and the motor was strong, started taking teeth off the pinion and the motor felt even better. Ended up running a 3.88 fdr 35* timing and the motor came alive!!! Can't wait to add a little more timing and drop a couple more teeth.

Does the 17.5 have any timing built into it? I the motor last night and started with a 4.0 fdr and the motor timing set at "0" (factory setting).
The motor ran good and temp was 105 degs after 5 mins , so I thought I would try to add a little timing, I found out that if I go past the 12* mark on the can the motor starts to clog real bad as the car start to move.

The motor timing marks go from 0 to 50* on the can which leads me to think about the motor having at least 30* timing built in

If you read back in this thread or it may be in another r1 thread I believe it was stated to have 30 deg from factory.

There is no date on the re stock of the 13.5. There might still be a few 17.5 motors left.

Thanks, I did some searching (different thread) and it does say it has 30* timing built in. Now I have a good starting point on gearing and timing.

Looking at the sensor board of this motor against a known quantity, such as the Trinity boards(which have 30*), it looks like the R1 has more like 0-10* of timing built in from the factory.
