What scales work the best? Where is the best place to get a deal on them and does anybody just use the small kitchen food scales?
I have yet to balance my car this way and hoping it makes a difference.

Cheapo 500g jewellery scales off ebay. I use two scales and two blocks of 18mm MDF for the other 2 wheels to get them to the same height. Or buy four scales if you're feeling rich

I have four basic kitchen scales - they are sufficiently accurate for corner weighting. Also means I can corner weight buggies as 500g per wheel is too low for them.

That's true, when I tried to do my buggy I wished I'd bought the 1000g versions instead!

I gave up on scales for everything but getting an idea of front / rear weight. For left / right balance, I have better luck lifting with wrenches under the shock towers. And for final de-tweaking I get best results by setting droop spot-on with a droop gauge, and then using setup wheels and lifting one end of the chassis at a time and making sure the wheels lift at the same time.

EDIT: And yes, a left / right balanced and detweaked car handles muuuch better. Front / rear balance is a tuning aid. In my experience, more weight forward gives more on-power steering and more resistance to traction roll on carpet, at the cost of less corner entry steering and more heat in the front tires. More weight to the rear gives a smoother car with more corner entry and mid steering, and puts more heat into the rear tires, and can work better on asphalt.

Holy 8888 that's just the ultimate scale setup if I ever saw one! It give you the weight distribution percentages too! Incedible machining. Yeah they're worth every penny. But I don't think you NEED to spend this much for a set of scales.

I've done pretty good with a 2-scale board setup from lefthander-rc.com

I like the little ones from Harbor Freight - they seem to do fine - and really don't need a "Scale Table" if you are on a flat surface.

At one time I was able to buy them for under $15 each. They were cheap scales that done the job. I sold a few sets here on RCTech. I never had complaints that they were bad or didn't work.
