there are many different factors to why your car might not be as fast at the other cars.....not just a motor...

The internal gear ratio of the two cars are different..... You cant run the same pinion and spur on both cars and get the same final drive. Get yourself a gear chart and find the final drive of your tamiya with your current pinion and spur. then get a pinion and spur combo for the xray that is the same or close to it.

Your internal drive ratio is different in both cars. Tamiya's is 2.54, and XRAY's is 1.77.

Here is the formula to figure out. Spur / pinion x internal drive = final drive

Example: Tamiya 102/37*2.54= 7.00
Example: XRAY 102/37*= 4.88 (Big difference..)

Also don't try to convert the pitch, as it will limit what ratios you can run.
Keep Tamiya at 64 pitch, and Xray at 48 pitch.

I own a Xray FK04, and a Tamiya 415MS. Trust me the Xray is a missle, and should be outshining your Tamiya, especially in cornering.

I think the FK 05 has to have the diff repacked with some lube and the rings polished up a little. Check on this though I believe it's what I have read some owners are having to do.

I hope this might help :-)

To clearify things, the internal gear ratio is 1.70 for FK05.

I guess its also possible you're not getting full throttle..

Set your throttle trims to 0 and re-program your ESC inputs for full throttle and full brake.
