New servo recommendations please!
Hi all, I am looking for a upgrade servo. At the moment I just have a sanwa srm102 that came with the MX-3 I bought a while back. I don't know anything about servos so if someone could suggest a reasonably priced unit that will go with the mx-3 receiver. I guess a better servo is just faster to respond, or perhaps I need a new radio setup to? I race stock but my goal to run mod in the next 12 months so I guess a fast servo will help my cause, no?
Thanks
Thanks

Futaba BLS551 is very good as well. I have the KO RSX One-10 myself and I can't tell too much of a difference.

Having a Sanwa radio its best to stick with there servos to match IMO. Yes the Futaba and KO servos mentioned are great and I have the BLS 551 myself. But are these reasonably priced? No. So are you willing to drop over $100 on a servo? If yes then the go for it.
But if you don't want to drop that much coin, the new Sanwa ERS971 can be had for around the $65us from hk based shops. Still plenty quick enough without the newer radios high speed modes.

I'd normally say to go with the Sanwa sdx801 or Futaba 9551 as the go to cheap servos. I have had 2 of these before and use the SDX as back ups but it looks as though there both discontinued now.

Thanks for all the replys guys, $100 is a lot but i guess it will last a while no? Also, what do i need to watch out for in terms of compatibility with my receiver? I keep reading 'digital servo' everywhere, does that mean i need a digital receiver or just that the servo itself is digital internaly? That rsx response is damn fast, is it analogue?
Just one more thing, it appears that a servo is the slowest thing in a radio system right???

Digital servos should work with almost any receiver. Of course they will be a little more power hungry than analog servos. Digital is almost always better for servos, as they center much more accurately.
A good servo will last you. I have 10+ year old servos from KO, Airtronics, and Futaba and they are great. I'm not so much of a fan of Savox servos for onroad, I can actually feel my Futaba/KO being smoother. But I do use them for offroad.
