Cool Tamiya Toyota Tom's "1985"

HI!... Tamiya Toyota Tom's "1985" This one needs to be restored. It looks like the previous owner installed some kind of after market rear mono shock on it. I'll be on the hunt for a original. It's missing two deck mounts in the middle. I just ordered a vintage NIP body set with decals for it. :P

Well I got the finishing touches done on the body, including the rear spoiler brace.

Well the new wheels/tires showed up this weekend. Perfect fit and exactly like the originals! :y:

Well I finally got a hold of the rare white hollow rear body posts, aluminum rear shock stay and locking grommet. This one is finally DONE! :woohoo:

Cool Tamiya Honda F-2

HI!... Well I just picked this one up off of Ebay a bit ago. The body set is NIB. The chassis is used but in very good condition with very minimal scratches. I just ordered a set of NIB rear wheels/tires. Still need to find a front set. This one needs quite a bit of parts to restore. The electronics tray is going to be really hard to find, plus a front bumper. I started on the body last night. Got it painted in a nice bright high gloss white. Just started to paint the engine compartment flat black. Still need to get some blue paint.

Well I decided to start painting the Honda F-2 body. Here's a few pics of what I got done so far.

Well got some more painting done tonight. I also decided to polished up the brass bits. Turned out pretty good. Also found a NIP spur gear. :y:

Well I finally got the Honda F-2 body complete. Now I got to start on the chassis. I also picked up a set of NIB rear wheels/tires for it.

So I managed to find a HONDA F2 chassis NIP. Should be here any day so I can start putting it together.

Well the Honda F2 chassis plate finally showed up on Friday. Only took a month to get here. Anyway I got most of it put together. I have servo's, receiver, on/off switch and MSC for it. I just need to find the electronics tray. That one's going to be fun. If anyone has one and wants to sell it LMK. I also still need the rear wire bumper and steering rod.

Cool Tamiya Ligier JS9 Matra CS

HI!... I just picked up this Ligier JS9 Matra CS from a fellow collector. It's in really good shape. It needs to be restored but just barely. It's missing one side mirror, and the driver needs to be painted the proper colours. I also need to install electronics.

O.k I got some electronics installed and a vintage hump back Tamiya battery. I found out that both front steering rods were incorrect. I found two of the proper ones in my shop. Also the steering rod from the steering servo to the servo saver was incorrect. Fixed that too. The MSC rod end was also incorrect. Found that the throttle servo mounting plate was upside down as well. Also the rear wing mounting tabs had not been painted per manual so I took care of that as well. Currently I'm painting the driver's head. It was the wrong colour. I still need to find a P/S mirror and get a vintage receiver.

Well I finally got around to painting the driver's head the proper colours. Now I just need to get a right hand side mirror and the vintage helmet decals.

Cool Tamiya Martini Renault F-2 (1979)

HI!... Picked up a Tamiya Martini Renault F-2 (1979)this week. It needs to be restored but is in really great condition for being 33 years old. Doesn't look like it was ever run. No scratches on it anywhere. It's missing a few cosmetic things like the left/right mirrors, the rollbar, and the rear wire bumper. If anyone has these items or knows where I can purchase them it would be greatly appreciated!!!!! :y: I'll be restoring this one and adding it to my ever growing shelf queen collection.

+

Well I finally did a ground up restoration and got some electronics installed. Also got the body painted in the proper colours.

Cool Tamiya Renault 5 Turbo

HI!... Well I just picked up a Tamiya Renault 5 Turbo.

So here's a few pics :

Well some goodies showed up for the Renault 5 Turbo today. :y: A vintage original driver and a repo body from TBG. I think TBG is now using thicker polycarbonate. I just got 3 bodies from them and their all really thick. I like! :woohoo:

Well I got the new body cut out and started tearing the Renault 5 Turbo down for restoration. Just waiting on some servo's and Well nuts to show up. While I'm waiting all the yellowed white plastic parts are going through the whitening process. I still need to find a driver's stay, original decals, and a front bumper to complete the restoration. So if anyone's got a line on one, LMK!!!! :woohoo:

Well after totally disassembling the Renault 5 turbo. I started to put her back together tonight. It's got 3 NIP well nuts. The originals were all dry rotted. I chemically cleaned the aluminum pieces and polished up the rear motor mount and receiver pack tray. All the small brass pieces also got polished. All the white plastic went through the whitening process. I picked up a vintage Tamiya 6 Volt hard pack battery for it. I still have to install some servos. (I got 8 NIB one's on the way). I got to find a black front bumper still, and some decals for the body. I managed to find a NIP driver's support. It should be in soon.

Well I finally got some electronics installed and even managed to find a NIP driver's support bracket. Many of you know these are almost impossible to find! I also by some miracle got a NIP set of vintage original decals :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Even got the driver painted. Now I just have to paint the body and find a front bumper and it will be done.

Cool Tamiya Rothman's Porsche 956

HI!... I just recently obtained a NIB Rothman's Porsche 956. This one will be built but will spend the rest of it's life as a shelf queen. Check out the vintage build section for a build up of this car. :cheer:

Well I started to build the Rothman's Porsche 956 today. This is as far as I have got. I didn't like the wheels. They were too yellowed from age IMO so they are currently submerged, going the the whitening process. Sorry for the weird colour picks. I was having camera issues.

Well I got the body cut out finally and the driver all painted up. Hopefully going to paint the body and sticker it in the near future.

Cool Tamiya Toyota Tom's "1985" (runner)

HI!.. Well I picked up another Toyota Tom's. This will be my 3rd one. I have a original and a Wacoal version. This one has the Wacoal decals on the Tom's body but that's it. So basically a regular Toyota Tom's with a Wacoal decals. This was is going to be a runner. This one's going to go brushless. I have a 8.5T 4000KV brushless motor and 60amp ESC. Going to run a 7.4 volt LiPo in it and see what she'll do. lol! I need to get some new wheels/tires and clean her up a bit.

O.k so I got the Toyota Tom's runner ready to go. Got a HobbyWing 8.5T, 4000KV BL motor in it. My Flightmax 5800mAh, 30C 7.4 volt LiPo's fit in it perfectly. Looking currently into getting a 11.1 LiPo that will fit. Gearing is stock with a 18 tooth pinion. ESC is a HobbyWing 60amp with cooling fan. Receiver is a HobbyKing HK-GT2R. Steering servo is a Futaba S3003. Everything on this thing is original except the new hex head screws. I C/A glued on a piece of rigid sponge foam onto the front bumper to give it a bit of protection in case a smoke a curb or something. Wheels and foam tires are new but identical to the originals. I just wish I could go drive it!!!! There's so much snow here I can't do anything with it but drive it in my 45FT X 25FT garage. It seems like it's going to be really fast. I just have to fab up some aluminum rear body mounts and it's basically done.

Well here's the pics of the prettied up runner body of my Toyota Tom's.

Cool Tamiya CALIBRA V6 DTM

HI!... I also just obtained a NIB Tamiya CALIBRA V6 DTM. This one will also be built and live it's life as a shelf queen. :cheer:

Well it's been a while since I've worked on any of my RC stuff. Work has been so hectic I have not had a chance to do much of anything. Anyway this long weekend I had some time to relax so I decided to build the CALIBRA V6 DTM . Here's a few pics.

I painted the body tonight and got all the decals cut out. Just got to wait for it to dry.

Well I got the body all painted and decal-ed. Also got the last bit of wiring done. Turned out pretty good I think. This one is 100% done now and ready for the shelf.
