I ran stock spur /25 on silver can during setup. Not bad, not much top end.
Can probably run stock/27..

I run 17.5T now.

No, I imagine he really is at 82/52 which gives a 3.15 FDR (2:1 drive ratio in the Sabre 4wd mini, correct?). I was running a 72/58 spur/pinion combo with a silver can in my Genetic which is a 3.1 FDR (2.5:1 drive ratio). I could imagine an 82/25 in the Sabre being ridiculously slow with a 21.5T.

Sounds good then.

82/52. 25t pinion will not reach the spur. 52 is the smallest pinion you can run with 82T.

I run it with a 21.5 Vulcan and timing is turned down.. It's almost as fast as my TC..

Ready to race, what's the approximate weight of the car? Thanks.

Really hard to say being R2R. That would depend entirely on your electronics and battery. Really it comes down to battery. You typically have to add weight to one side to compensate for it.

When we ran blinky 21.5 4WD minis at our old track, most of us were gearing our Sabres with 80T spur and 57-59T pinion. Make sure you have good fan for the motor.

Thanks guys. Our minimum weight is 1450gms, 21.5 blinky, open treaded mini tires. Hope to get a car soon.

That's pretty heavy for a mini. Better get some tungsten.

Yes, it's a new class for a two race series between two cities, involving other classes as well. Weight, tires, etc may change depending on how it works out.

Yeah, I'm willing to bet you will have to add 200 grams to get it up 1450 g. For reference, a buddy's Atomic VMII weighed in 1185 g RTR with a full size 5000 mAh lipo, Shoe-Goo'd body and all. My Genetic came in at 1220 g with a 4.2 Ah shorty pack.

Should just do an open class, aka anything goes.

After qualifier results, break it up into fast, turtle, and snail classes. Goal is to have fun.

Yeah we run a class we call Scale Spec here in Seattle. It steals a lot of rules from VTA, but it's designed to be a low budget class and an entry level after Novice. The rules were relaxed for M chassis cars to try and bring in the people who have them. No weight restriction or tire restrictions etc. The class works out very well here.

That's a good idea. When I use to race many years ago (over 15yrs ago), we bought our m-chassis for fun. It was always open class, you can drive fast or slow, whatever you want. We even lined up our cars facing the wrong direction on the starting grid so you had do a u-turn first.

I was kind of amazed at all these rules you guys have these days when I got back into RC last Fall. Tire restriction? TCS rules? Really, for m-chassis class?
