It's actually a really good servo, what I've been using for a while now. Having it match the blue is just an added bonus

Space on the chassis. I think a full size servo would take up too much real estate?

Here is a lower cost alternative. I have a few of these I keep as backup spares. I haven't used them yet, but the specs are good. And they're blue

That's why I went with a LP servo. Just for that little bit more room it frees up on the car.

I was thinking of trying this Lee Martin Xpert PI-3401 in my next TC6.x
I went to the Airtronics after using the Futaba 9550 series for years...and I like it a lot, and the blue is just extra...but nice touch.

but since Reedy has a servo out now I swapped out the Airtronics to try this weekend. Its not low profile but still fits just fine.

NOTE: I would avoid the Savox servo. Most ppl Ive spoke with say that it power hungry

Yes, I'm sure a standard servo fits, I just like the extra room

I have standard sized high speed, high torque Savox servos in my my XO-1 and Slash Rally, they work fine without issues.

Viper did you cut all your esc and servo wires to shorten them or did you just wind them all together and shoegoo them behind everything and under the top deck?

Yes, I cut the ESC, servo, fan and power switch wires to length, and re-crimped the ends with connectors I got at our local hobby store (Hobby Express). The crimpers I got at B&E Industrial electronics store.

Its much better than my wires before when I had them all zipped tied or shrink wrapped together. Now they just lay in place with out fear of dragging against the belt, and is serviced easily with out a lot of fuss or cutting ties.

It's not picture perfect, but it is a tool, not a jewel

So did I.
I was very happy with the Futaba for years but was searching for a new one because of the slope which got more and more over the years.
I tried the Savox as well, but I found it to slow and not precice in steering so I changed back to my slopy Futaba, which was still much much better even after years of hitting the walls.
Now I'm happy with the Sanwa - it's fast and strong ... and blue!

Take care about using FUTABA 91550 with airtronics radio .....?

My 91550 with airtronics radio were not a right/left symetrical stroke.....!

Now with a airtronics servo it is perfect

Depending on your Tx you can adjust or compensate for that.

Any guesses to when a new AE chassis/kit will be released?

How did you shorten your on off switch?
I'm assuming it has 3 wires. The middle is programming
Did you open the switch box itself?

Its a 2 wire switch that plugs into the ESC, just like a servo.

This is a weird photo in the accessories don't look scale to the ESC, the fan is the same size as the top of the ESC, but you get the idea.
