Xray sells an aluminum piece that is both a front wing mount and a body post mount. Silly thing is like $17. It dies come in handy, though.

I am convinced that I need an Xray this fall. I am wanting to get one soon, but always have to ask the question when considering an Xray.....
Is there a '17 model coming? Where does the F1 fall in the timeline?
Or should I just get a '16 and start getting comfortable?

My advise: just get it.
There's always a new model coming, guaranteed. It most certainly won't come before the summer, so you'd be waiting all summer & not driving it, and since it isn't an expensive kit to get & drive by far (F1 is quite a cheap class) compared to other classes, just get it and enjoy it. You won't enjoy it less when a new model is released, and there are always people looking for the older model if you want to get a rid of it and get the new one upon release.

Exactly! Plus a newer model of whatever does not necessarily mean better. The current car is great.

BTW a xray new Formula kits usually comes a couple of weeks before the first ETS round or about the first halve of November.

Right on the money. I am a XRay guy and I will buy a new kit and run it for 2 years before upgrading and I am very competitive with the new cars. Most of the time, the new car will only have minor upgrades. In my opinion, 2 year interval of upgrades is worth the change.

Thanks guys. I was sort of leaning that way. I can say I will not be a guy extracting every .01 of pace out of the car anyway. Conveniently parts seem to carry over a few generations. I don't see the F1 car changing that fundamentally.

I'm looking for a gearing suggestion. Going to be running the stock 96 spur with a reedy 25.5 Mach 3. Indoor carpet, 75ft straight.

I can probably run near identical times with my '15 and my '16 when setup almost the same. Nothing wrong buying an X1 now even if the new one is just 6 months away. Still one of the best F1 you can get right now. It has been a game changer at our local track, nearly 90% of our F1 guys run it and they have all improved their consistency and speed.
