We just started a spec class at our local track. Most of us are still building/painting, but we should start racing these soon

Default Almost done!

Our tracks first spec LM-1 race is tonight! Got the car finished up late last night. Still need to put on my F1PaintLabs livery decals. Thank you Brad for the inspiration I only made a few alterations to his design.

I think it will look pretty good once the Gulf logos and number plates are on it!

@angrymelon

Car is looking good! Post another pic when you get the livery decals on.

What is your tracks rules for LM1? 21.5 motor?

We run a full spec class. 21.5 fixed timing Hobbywing paired with a Hobbywing Justock ESC. 4600mah Trakpower shorty LiPO. We haven't ironed out all of the rules, but we'll likely have a higher minimum weight, and minimum tire diameter. Excited to see where this goes!

Here she is.

Car was amazing with the stock setup. Only change was lowered the ride height to 4mm. Ended up winning our inaugural race!

Love the Gulf livery! Is that an LM-P (Peugeot or Porsche)?

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

That's actually the original LMA, Audi body. The Porsche logos and badging came with the F1PaintLabs decal sheet.

What has everyone done to reinforce the bodies? I found that the thickness of lexan varies from one body to the next. Mine for example is extra thin in the front which has caused massive cracking after the first tap of the pipe. I've since used the tried and trued shoe goo and dry wall tape. However, it seems to just be transfer the energy further down the body, cracking elsewhere. Did I just get a dud of a body?

No. They're crap.

There is a weak spot up front where everything comes to a point and another a little further back. We were racing them last week and one of the other guys hit a wall one time and the lexan cracked from one weak spot to the other.

Whole front corner was hanging by a thread.

Not only are the bodies a pain to paint and assemble, they're very weak. I am waiting for the option body to come out to see if they're any better.

Thank you for your reply, even if it's not what I wanted to hear :P Has anyone tried the LMP body yet to see if it's any tougher? It doesn't look like it would be since it has the very square edges at the front corners.

This is just an overall bummer, as trying to convince people to make their cars look cool, with expensive decals, and time consuming paint work, only to have them crack so easily is going to be a rough sell. Combine that with how much the replacement bodies cost :|

I wonder if there is a way Speed Passion could produce the bodies with thicker lexan? I'm guessing that it might lose some of the definition but I'd gladly trade for that. I don't expect these bodies to be as tough as ones from other classes, simply because of how many edges they have, but it would be nice to have a body not crack immediately on the first outing.

@angrymelon, The SP bodies are good for art, not racing...
Try this body. It's handles better all around, more top speed, looks/fits proper, durable, and cheap. It's a Porsche 962 GTP body. Everyone at the club I'm in runs this body, it actually leaves you at a disadvantage if you run the SpeedPassion body against it lol.

Thank you for the info and link. I'm trying to make this class as cheap and spec as possible. Having to immediately buy another body isn't ideal, but maybe we can review it and see if people prefer it. It will definitely be cheaper in the long run.

Do you have any pictures of that body painted up and mounted on an LM1? That would be awesome!
