@Mechintosh,
Is your local track Hotshot Hobbies? If so, I can bring my body and wheels/tires for those who are on the fence. I don't have a car built to put under it yet, but I know that there are a number of F1 folks who used to race there who would likely be easy converts.

Yes it is. There are a few of us that are trying to revive the F1 class. I do not want to high jack this thread so I will hit you up in a PM to discuss some ideas of both F1 and LM1.

The past Sunday was the final round of the F1RCGP Asia over at Hong Kong...invited F1 guru Kitasawa-san, Tresray Yuji san and Hiro Factory owner running the brand new Speed Passion LM1 along with the SP HK factory driver Stick-King.....here is a HD video of that round of the LM1 and the introduction of the LM1 (sorry about being in Chinese, but at least you can see the car in action).

The race is at about 6:00 mark....they were all using handout Speed Passion Reventon Stock Club Race ESC with SP MMM V3 13.5 motor with locked timing board at fixed position with fixed gearing at 26/72T.

The above video was record the past Sunday...at Hong Kong...temperature was about 38*F....typical Hong Kong RC track does not apply traction addictive on the track nor allow racer to use traction compound on the tire. All 5 of those LM1 were running same ESC, same motor, same timing setting (locked), same gearing 26/72 and same size of tires....yes, they are no rookie, one of them is Hiro Factory owner, and his top driver that is only 12 years old. Then it is Kitasawa-san that won the IIC event, and F1RC over West coast and he is Futaba and Sp factory driver...the other one is TITC blinky and 13.5 boost champ in 2011....but still, it shown the foam tires does work with the motor of choice...

But of course, we know it DOES not work well with 10.5 and faster, in order to work with 10.5...it need softer tires, or....Gyro on steering, which is allow to use over Asia F1 LeMan event under MOD class.

Thanks for the video Solara. I think we have just about enough info for drawing something up for a test event. Could run WGT (under the GTE banner) and LM1.

Ok this might already be covered and might seem like a dumb question....

But after watching the video on the Speed Passion site. I want to know, does the new carbon reinforced material/parts come standard on this chassis?

solara, nice video. the motor seemed like a perfect match for the cars on foam tires.

How does this sound:

LM1 Class

Chassis: Speed Passion LM1
Motor: 17.5 (Open but Speed Passion recommended)
Battery: 2S
Tires: Kit Foam
Drive Ratio: 26/72

I like it....I think by limiting the gearing, the only area that need to check are the tires diameter. And I just find out we are going to lowered the price on the foams to around $20 a pair (make it $40 a set front and back)....trying to keep that price align with the rubber tires...

Hi, How about the people that have mounted the body on a F104 Chassis
like me? No place in the proposed rules.

Rob King and I are working on a tentative set of rules for a LMP class. At the moment it is not chassis specific but does allow for 17.5, 2S, blinky, LMP style bodies. Tires are still the gray area at the moment as the SP car only has foams right now.

That being said, my LM-1 kit is going together at the moment. I'm anxious to get it to the track for testing, even with foam tires.

Norman,
That's my plan with my body at present. IMO, the chassis should be open to any 190-200mm F1 car. I have a half-dozen or more F1 cars and couldn't justify the extra $ for yet another chassis. With so many cars having very similar link rear ends and with the easily transplanted F103 front end to bring nearly all other F1 chassis to the required width, that this would be a good idea. If you want to tap the current F1 group, this might help.
Just my $0.02 worth.

Scot

How about this:

LMP Class

Chassis: any F1 style chassis
Motor: 17.5 (Open)
Battery 2S 7.44v
Body: Speed Passion LM-A
ESC: Open
Tire: Open
Drive Ratio: 26/72

LM1 (or LMPC)
Chassis: Speed Passion LM1 only
Motor: 17.5
Battery 2S 7.44v
Body: Speed Passion LM-A
ESC: Blinky/Sportsman
Tire: Kit Foam
Drive Ratio: 26/72

This offers an opportunity for everyone, and allows a place for rubber tires once someone has figured out how to make them for this type of vehicle
