I hope those rubber tires show up soon. I think that will be the best solution.

I would agree rob, but in the interim I do think that the minimum tire diameter would be a good solution...53mm maybe?

I agree with Rob. Rubber would be best. Until they are available something closer to the OD of the F1 tires would probably be best. However, no whining or crying when the rubber tires come out. This class of car if left on foam tires will get stupid just as fast as WGT did.

@Rick,
That's one of the reasons I like the idea of either using 21.5 and 2s, like the F1 cars, or going with 1s and something like a 17.5, like the Spec175GT folks.
@RobK, I have been wondering how the USVTA 25.5 motor rules would work with these cars. At the moment, we have a spec tire. Limit the bodies and ESC rules, and it would be QUITE similar to a pan car VTA.

If we end up on rubber tires, 17.5/1s would be easier to drive on tracks with less than ideal traction. I'll second this motion!

I agree with the idea of it 1s and rubber tire. But the bummer deal on that end is. What company, if not SP would go out of their way to produce the tires just for this car...

I haven't read the entire thread yet and done homework. But has anyone tried the car yet with f104 rubber/foam wheels with Shimizu tires?

I personally dont like the idea of going 1s....there is no point really IMO. No need for special ESC's or boosters or receiver packs....keep it 2s so its simple. If there is a rubber tire made to keep the scale looks then cool. Also 2s would help if these are raced outside because of the extra weight.

I think it should be 21.5 motors with 2s....foam or rubber.

The problem with the F104 rubber tires is that the tires are no where near scale looking because of the side wall on the tires. What is needed is more like a sedan type low profile looking tire to keep the scale looks with the width of the F1 tires. If that doesnt happen and its foam then you might as well just race WGT with a neon blob door stop.

17.5 1s is going to be slow for this car. I raced that class with 1/12 on carpet and it was fun but slow. It would be slower than vta. If we could convert the front axle to hex, we could at least run hpi tires and wheels which are currently the most realistic tires out.
