Edward, just ordered the floating servo mount system for my 12M and was wondering if you had a video of that install, with tips, yet??
I looked for the link but couldn't find it if you have one. Can you throw a link in here, please?

Thanks for all your great info on the VBC cars!

No this is VBC's own design and it's 2.5 mm thick.

Wow, that's amazing to hear! Thank you for deciding on and buying the VBC 12M! I think you'll have a great time with this chassis.

The aluminum chassis isn't available just yet. They are still working on the design.

I don't have a video explaining the floating servo mount. I've been busy with moving apartments, wedding, and job hunting. I would hope to get back up and running again in September.

A tip for the floating servo mount - Make sure the servo is mounted directly inline with the center line of the chassis. That means the output spline of the servo is perfectly inline with the center line of the chassis.

Thanks for the servo mount tip, Edward, really appreciate it. Enjoy your video's, kind of helped me get bit by the VBC bug! I have a VBC Lightning 10, Lightning FX - and am so impressed with them, that I decided to order the 12M so I can retire my tired 12R5.1.

And, I already have the NEW VBC Lightning F1 on pre-order from gripworksrc.com.

Good luck with all the busy "life stuff", and congrats on the wedding!
Look forward to your next set of videos!

Got out of work a little early today and was able to spend a little time tonight starting the build on the 12M. Pretty impressed with VBC kits - so far have built a Lightning 10, a Lightning FX, and now, just about done with the 12M.

I still need to finish the kit, need to build the shock and pull the gear out of The Associated 12R5.1 for this new one.

Here are a few pics of the car.

I really dig the rear pod design, and the ride height spacers.

Here's a pic of the VBC Lightning FX F1 car, with the aluminum chassis and rear pod plate. They're sweet!! Can't wait for VBC to release the aluminum chassis for the 12V2/12M.

I guess the VBC kits have come a long way in terms of quality as I have read a year or more ago that there was some issues. Only issue I have had so far was with this one, the 12M, one pivot ball had a little material in it and had to ream it out a little. That's it, in 3 kits.

Getting a little closer. . .

Really dig this new rear pod design.

Need to re-wire the ESC and shorten the servo lead, put the gear in and will be good to go. After I true down the monster truck foams.

At least the body is ready. A buddy painted this for me, he is good. This body probably took him 10 minutes - I can't even tape off the window in 10 minutes.

Ready to Rock, er, well, roll maybe.
Everything is in: shortened, trimmed, trued, and shoe-gooed.

Thanks for looking.

Also, shout out and H-U-G-E thank you to EDWARD2003. Appreciate all the help and tips he gave me on this build. He actually noticed a couple of things I needed to change from the pics I posted.

Really appreciate you Edward, taking the time to help - and especially for your YT videos. They actually helped me quite a bit and also got me interested in VBC to begin with.

Can someone tell me if the chassis brace from the 12M will fit on the 12L.

I would like to run my Lipo transverse.

I have looked at both manuals online and it seems like it will work but I can't tell if the holes on the chassis will be spaced the same.

Thanks

If anyone is interested I have a 12m I'm looking to sell. I only ran it at 1 race locally and moved on to another chassis. Private message me if interested

Not the best reference using an Instagram framing app...

But in this pic it appears as though all the Lightning 12 holes line up with the 12M. The M has a few more if anything.

It's been awhile since I've used my car, but I know you could seemed down the Lightning's little bracket. Then use strapping tape and maybe thin double sided under the battery.

Nexus, thanks for taking the time to get the two images lined up. They look like a match to me.

Sorry, just saw your question from above. When you say 12L, if you mean Lightning 12, yes, it should work fine. And that would be better than filing down the battery stays on your standard in-line battery brace and using only tape. On the 12M brace - those two extra holes on the brace are where the body posts are now mounted. And now you have multiple locations for the side damper tubes. Only difference on the brace - other than you now mount your battery transverse instead of in-line. On the 12M, if you want to run the battery in-line you need to run the old brace.
