Does anyone have pictures of the car setup with the battery transverse?

What do you need to make this happen? I ran the TOP car last week and wonder if the transverse battery really makes that big of a difference as I was 3 tenths faster on the same track with the TOP car.

I've been playing with a transverse setup for a while. No special parts needed really. I just run a small piece of double sided tape (think stuff... like double sided scotch tape) under the battery to help keep it still in addition to the normal battery strapping tape.

Setup changes I found helpful with transverse setups:

- Softer side springs are good to keep the car from lifting and being overly aggressive. Generally I run the side springs on the links. Associated black springs are a little stiffer than I'd like. CRC .45's are pretty solid though. You have to tweak the spring a bit to fit our spring cups better though. I've heard some are having success with some speed merchant and yokomo springs as well

- Softer front springs are also important. AE .018s or Speedmerchant 0.019s are pretty solid. They just help smooth the car out and keep it from getting all lifty in the corners when coming in hot!

Attached pic is an example of one of my car's that has a few aftermarket goodies on it for experimentation. Team prime shock is used mainly to use the blue AE spring (little stiffer than the VBC black), and the xenon front end to play with some additional options like kingpin inclination. The stock VBC L12 V2 front end is what I have on my inline car right now.

I finally got to run the car transverse this past weekend. It defiantly has a lot more natural steering than the inline car. Im defiantly going to run it transverse in modified at the MHIC in a couple weeks!

SM 18 front springs
10 degree reactive caster
thick shim back
1.5mm on lower arms
2mm shim on upper arms
-1 degree camber
Steering links swept back (calms the car down)

Hot Bodies center shock
AE Blue
50wt
1mm droop
4mm under rear of shock
Upper hole on shock mount

20k in tubes
SM 18 side springs

Pink/ Soft Green
Protoform AMR

3.5mm ride height all around

Thanks for the info!
1.5mm on the lower arms, what do you mean here?
2mm shim on the upper arms, this is the kit setup right?

1.5mm spacing the lower arm out.

I think 1.5mm is stock but I'm not 100% sure.

Early reports say it lacks forward bite.

That prototype looks sweet.
Is the VBC going to have some of the same features as the 2015 Hiro Factory kit or are they going in separate directions?

No, they are going in different directions and are developing their own cars!

Default Lightning 10 battery position

Max,

Sorry thread drift, but I'm building a Lightning 10 WGT. What is the best battery position?

Are people mounting the batteries now with double sided tape? If so what brand do you recommend?

Thanks

The 12th scale kit looks amazing

My kit just showed up in the mail. I am excited to start building it.

I have never built a pan car.

Does anyone have any suggested locations for screws with locktite?

Any suggestions for transverse mounting the Lipo, what holds it in the chassis?

Any other suggestions for a first time pan car builder?

Thanks
