Tamiya TA-06 with Exotech chassis kit vs. TRF417
Which car is better for 17.5 TC performance-wise? The Tamiya TA-06 with Exotech chassis kit or the Tamiya TRF417?

That's really a hard question if you think about it. In a class like 17.5 the real high speed handling charistics of the 417 can't really shine. There is still much more friction in the ta06 but being so much cheaper... I personally wouldn't go with the exotec chassis, i would just use a plain pro ta06 maybe the ms the trf just is a waste of money here.

If you plan on getting a Tamiya ta06, get rsector conversion for it. easier maintenance and makes the chassis stiffer compared to the tub chassis it originally comes with. I have that setup and can hang with tcxx's, 417's and other high end cars. imagine having the guys you just beat find out that they were spanked by a ta06. I've seen a couple of jaws drop after spanking them with mine.

There is really no comparison, 417 without a doubt. The TA06 is too heavy and has too high of drive train loss to be a competitive option in the spec classes. A more viable budget option would be the soon to be released TB04. Although used 417s can be had for a good price.
