Interesting.

What is the diameter of the head? This could be part of it I guess...

And for what it's worth I have a set of 82° screws sitting on my workbench at the house which absolutely do not run all the way flush. There is a whole discussion about this in the 1/12th scale monster thread.

Hey guys,

I haven't run this car for a long time, but I swear I recall using the CRC titanium 8-32 screws with no issues. Not sure if this is what you need, but at least felt like I should make sure the option is explored. Sorry if you've already tried them.

I'll have to get some of the CRC screws...
But meanwhile the Lunsford screws are not only flush, but actually slightly recessed.

FWIW Lundsford replied to my question regarding the angle on their 8-32 flat heads. "We made the 8-32 flat head with a 90 degree angle. The Associated is 80 degrees and very shallow. Those old screws seem to be scarce today. We may need to make some retro 8-32 flats to get people going again."

The 8-32 screws that come with the kit are 82* They are 'undercut' if you are searching mcmaster. I know this doesn't help with your quest to eliminate the phillips... I don't know if they make a hex drive undercut 8-32. I can't seem to find any. Carry the Phillips.

For reference, undercut screw is mcmaster 91099A265

Speedmerchant Rev 8

I am probably gonna pass on it because I am looking at a custom built car instead of a 2nd SM.

Who besides RSD makes a shim kit for the front ends? Being AE old school bolt pattern there has to be others but I'm not turning any up.

Zen Racing in the UK has nice CF shims for the AE spacing.

Old school spacing? Remember the modern AE/Xenon stuff is a different bolt pattern than the old school AE.
