I think if the price is $135. It is too much money for what it is. I'd much rather continue to run my Tekin RS. If I sells RS, I will still have to dish out quite a bit to get something with less capabilities. Nah!

The only thing that could help would be if it has a smaller footprint and less weight.

Awesome. Thanks Kevin!

if you read the box next to the info about the controller it is $135 for the gen 2 spec AND a gen 2 motor

Actually, that box says $135 for an ESC, and $185 for an ESC + Motor combo.

Actually it is $185 for both.

But is $135 RRP. I hope it will be a bit cheaper once in stores.

Bringing some life back to the thread. Quite a few people from IIC have these ESCs and we now have the software for them. As above in this thread, I was quite skeptical over this ESC vs the likes of a Justock.

Besides for running this ESC in Spec GT @ IIC where it felt good (on a largely under geared and under timed motor), last night I ran it for the first time with a known strong and high torque RevTech 17.5 I have, geared properly and timed properly. I had a HW v3 for a run, then put the Gen2 Spec in. The brakes on the spec felt better (smooth and progressive from high speed), and out of the corner was also smooth, but fast. No unnecessary wheel spin or overly aggressive areas of the power delivery. (improved over the more harsh Gen 1 products, which were a bit more in your face with the power delivery)

I left the brake strength at 100% in the ESC, and profile 4 for the active braking. And then just dialed down the EPA for brakes in my radio to ~ 65 - 75%. I left the throttle curve at linear (but I did mess with concave a bit to make the exit slightly more mild and that also worked well and was fast, but not as aggressive as I like).

Holding the car in my hand the Tekin doesn't seem like it should be as smooth because seems like it has a bit of a dead zone from neutral, and not as smooth at very low rpm (even with Neutral width set to min), but on track it feels like butter. Not sure why that is.

Over all I knocked my laptimes on average down by .1 running the Spec after doing some changes to my liking with drag brake and neutral width (min) vs my HW V3.

Oh and the datalogging (which I admit, I thought was a gimmick before) turns out to be a real nice tool to have at your disposal.

Amain may have them too but their website is crashing for me at the moment.

I don't see what's to love for you HobbyWing fans. I am running a citrix in VTA and I would much rather use my RS on blinky. I can't wait to set up my VTA car with a hotwire.

Hey guys. Here's a quick "How to" on the Data logging feature. A few examples of what we did at the 2013 IIC race and how it affected the racers using the feature and tool.
