need help fast. PLEASE HELP ANYONE
i am assembling my first car. i got a sport2 from a friend of mine. anyways i was wondering if i have to grease up all the bearings before installing them. in step 2 it says to grease all the shaded grey parts. for the folling steps there are many grey parts but it dont say to grease them. so should i or not. do i have to grease all my bearing. thanx

If it is a new kit, then no, they will already be greased.
|
ok kewl
i finished my car today and was worried that i would have to take it apart. its the new sport 2 kit by hpi. so u are possitive that i dont have to grease the bearings. later
|
Positive. :D

you dont need to grease bearings. for routine maintennance, i just tear down my car and remove all the bearings. then i soak them in wd40, shake off the dirt, then reinstall them. these are teflon sealed bearings from a tc3. for old metal shielded bearings, some remove the shields then put new grease in. for your sport2, if it is equipped with gear differentials, i think that's the only part you need the grease for.

Marvi, if you saok them in WD40, you're gonna have to re-lube them ;)
|
Yeah, WD-40 is a solvent, not a good lubricant.
|
oh, i thought wd40 was some type of oil, like super lube or something. well, ive been doing this since my first TA02 years ago. it seems to work for me. what do you guys use for soaking bearings? i plan to tear down my car in a few days. thanks!

I soak my bearing in motor cleaner and agitate them to remove the dirt. Try putting them in a old film canister with the motor cleaner and just shake it up.
After this though, you will definitely have to lubricate the bearings!;) |
I blast them with buggy blast to get the crud out then drench them in royal oil. :D
