It is not worth it. Cheaper to sell the 418 to get the 419. At the current prices and weak value of the yen, the car is more affordable than ever.

No, well not exactly economically. The main parts they share are the plastics - the cheap parts.

For a complete transformation you would need;

Main Chassis - $50
Top Deck - $15
Motor Mount & Centre Shaft - $50
Big Bore Dampers - $50 (not "required")
Upper Bulkheads F&R - $100
Lower bulkheads F&R - $60
Split Blocks F&R & spacers - $25
1 Piece F Block $10 (not "required")
Complete Diff - $25
Spool Out Drives (not "required") - $10
Centre Shaft for Spur - $5
F&R belts - $10
F&R shock towers - $20
Titanium Susp Shaft - $20 (not "required")
Servo Mount - $25 (no "required")
New style C-Hubs - $5 (not "required")

Even if only chnaging the parts above that relate to geometry, you're still over $300 (if you can find them all) at the prices above - which are "low" not "typical"

I purchased the TRF418 Samix chassis and battery retainers a few weeks ago and it arrived last night in the mail. I spent the evening swapping out he stock chassis plate for this one and my sedan is ready. I have a club race tonight and we'll see how it works.

I'm going to make a rash statement here and say that the TRF419 diff was the missing piece in the 418 puzzle. Ran it for the first time tonight and the rear of the car was immediately more consistent with no loss of steering - if any thing it rotated around the apex better.

My TRF418.9 (Samix chassis and 419 diff) is finally the car it should have been 18 months ago.

is the 419 diff a complete drop in replacement? no need to change anything to match the front? i am thinking of going this way. the Samix you have is the carbon narrow v2 right?

As stated above, diff is a direct fit, and includes everything you need in the pack. I have the V2 carbon Samix.

I was running in the back of the pack in VTA with a mostly stock 418. I just could not get the car balanced and handling the way I wanted.
Added the Samix and new 419 diff and moved directly to the front of the grid. Now it's just the driver that needs work.

Bulkheads on the 419 are spaced out a little wider. Don't think these will fit.

Hey all just got back from an outdoor club meet and my car was really loose. It is a new build only used it about 4 times and one of the top club guys said there seems to be a lot of play at the wheels so the carman joints have play like they need shimming at the bearings. What this is doing is under load meaning I can go from -2 degree camber to 0 or more just with play. Is this something inherent to this car that I need to sort. Hope all that makes sense and someone can help?

My car has the full Samix conversion, including motor mount. I haven't compared it with the Tamiya motor mount.
