Go the newer car.

Mine should arrive today. My thinking was;

the shocks on the v5 are a little odd ball and only "right" for about 5% of conditions. When they are on, they're on though.

Anyone who's anyone upgraded their v5 to raceberry spec, so the v5 obviously has some major flaws/scope for improvement. Not saying the 418 doesn't, but you would expect it took this change into account

Newer suspension arms, uprights etc are all stronger (in theory) lighter (just) and optimised in terms of adjustment

In 12-18months time, I expect parts for the V5 are going to be hard to come by in comparison too.

The 418 is missing the ti coated suspension shafts though

Yep as above, if buying them new get the 418 (Just got in from racing mine, achieved FTD by two laps in a field of 40 racers).

Epic car!

Would have to be 5x8's

Anything else would leave too little thread - even the new stud with a built in 1mm would leave it too weak.

I was thinking of running the trf short shocks and lower towers, anyone have experience with this on a med to high traction carpet track?

Nice. Another 418. I'll be there for some 17.5. Good luck man. I think I have a decent setup for TQ, but I'm just a 17.5 driver.

Yeah, I have it written down at home. I'll pop it into a pdf and send it to you later. If either of us wins the regional, we can post it publicly.

I found it very grippy at the rear and very safe, it was ok but I lowered them again and went quicker.

I will post my set-up over the weekend (I'm on the way to the Pub as its Friday) although I do race on a small track with a lot of 180 corners so the other set up may be better of you can keep the power down and have a lot of sweepers.

Sounds good. I guess that kind of makes sense tho. Were you having problems traction rolling at all?
