Wow, looks like my mod cars.

It's early, there's plenty to figure out still.

The other cars look as unimpressive as the 418 in this video. How big was the gap between volker and marc?

Well Marc can do better on his Facebook page he said that he still didn't figure out the best settings for the 418. Sry if bad English.

How far off the pace was Marc at that event?

Wow! I can see why he sounded so dejected. Hopefully, they can sort out the issues and get a good setup for carpet heading into the indoor season.

On a side note. Does anyone know what type of mechanism Tamiya plans on including to secure the LiPO battery? The previous kits had L shaped brackets and a piece in the center to prevent it from sliding around. The pictures that I've seen show nothing but a small servo mount in the rear. This isn't the final production version right?

Better Video, Marc on P3 for the start. Looks to have a shutdown mid race in A1

+ YouTube Video

Marc tested again on the weekend in France and finished 2nd to Yannic. The real test will be ETS round 1 this weekend

the shutdown was due to a failing diff...
volker really was in another league there. (and i was there)
however ETS is the yardstick and this was the first outing with the new car. i am sure they will improve it and maybe already have in france last weekend.

I see the 418 pics do not have the V5 shocks?

Probably because the V5 was a "Jilles replica" car from the worlds and he ran the aeration shocks there. They aren't necessarily the best thing to use everywhere.

http://ets.redrc.net/2013/11/chassis...rc-rheinard-2/

Chassis focus of Marc's car - you can see how he's removed the motor mount screw from the top deck for more flex. The piece was written before he really got it going so it sounds a bit negative, he was a lot more up beat after finishing 2nd and running some very fast lap times - the next ETS should be interesting

Hopefully Marc will post his setup. All I can really see is the 3k diff and yokomo blue front springs (I think). I believe the suspension blocks have been moved compared to 417 hence there are more shims on the inboard side of the arms.

Wonder when we'll be able to pre-order, it's already November

Yep, he was actually really quick in the finals, the fact that he was looking for the right set-up hampered him in the qualifiers, so he had a hard time in the races catching Ronald.

The car looks good in the videos, and he was getting quicker laps than Ronald in the finals. So it looks promising.

You can pre-order from speetech already and they are giving 10% off all the parts for the tamiya car for the first six months after the car is released. Sounds like a good deal to me!
