Used 6.5t&LRP80999(3-6)(boost+turbo) the 51547 20t gear is broken only 1-time battery. ,but the 16T/40T bevel gear is ok~
Now
I use alu 20T center miter gear.100% fit.
It is 9804570 for DB-02 .

Wonder if it will really improve traction. The belt drive cars like TRF418 are all trying to configure the carbon with more flex.

Nice fix. Make sure the gears are shimmed with very little play. Or you will strip gears. Now that those gears are metal. It could cause other problems if shimmed incorrectly

In DB-02 manual,the 20T alu bevel gear(19804570) use 2x9 shaft (19808017).
Real can use 2x9.8 shaft (51444) on this 20T alu bevel gear.

Are those metal gears aluminum? There's no description on the package. If they are steel I would prefer to stay with the plastic stuff. Aluminum would be awesome

typicalgear diff gear... similar to what comes in the mini gear diffs... i wouldnt expect them to be anything special... the 'special' gears have a bronze color to them.. and dont think those are alminum either. maybe a beter steel with a coating perhaaps..

good alternative nevertheless.

I hope gear stripping isn't going to be a problem with the plastic gears, though I'll be running high turn motors.

I'm going to go through the tb04 manual and make a list of shims to buy. I'm guessing I will need to get all the different shims found in the drivetrain plus m3 sized shims for the suspension components

Edit: Bought more stuff, all I need is the chassis

Ran my TB-04 today for the first time in anger.

1440 grams w/ lightweight Speed6, R1Wurks 13.5, Sweep Reedy Spec tires, spool, ball diff.

Holy smokes, what a great car right off the trailer. Wish I could of stayed and raced, but I had to go write payroll. Reedy race is going to be fun fun fun.

I received the exotek motor adaptor, its a beautiful piece and feels very strong. My worries of the motor being unstable are gone

Will the exotek mount be available in the UK?

I have a wide range of Tamiyas, the TB04 is a great car but its soooooooooooooooooooooo heavy. Its 100g over the minimum weight. This does make it handle well with the lower turn motors, but you have to gear it a little different to make up for the extra weight. I mainly race my 418 and use the tb04 as a back-up or just race it when I fancy a change.

Lap times are slower but the extra weight makes it slower on direction change, and there are no roll bars for it yet, that will help as the set-up range is limited without that for better corner speed.

If it was my main ride I would spend a bit more on the car to make it skinny (Carbon plastic chassis, titanium screws etc) but I cant justify it yet. I have fitted the 418 arms on the car and it didn't feel any different (although it was only a couple of races) if anything I was a little slower (although It might need heavier oil as it seemed to be too soft with those arms).
