getting the weight out of the drivetrain is very important for this car get all of the light weight parts for the rear diff and drivetrain.
Are you running 0 rebound on your shocks?

Just a heads up for those running wider than kit blocks (i run 1C-1C front and XA-B rear)... might want to get shorter universal shafts as the usual 44mm ones bind with the outdrives when the suspension compresses (pushes the plastic protector against the inside of the outdrives). I switched to 42mm front and rear

Yes.

Fred will never say this publicly, but the intent of the TCS rules is to keep people from building some Frankenstein deal where you need to cut two completely unrelated parts and glue them together, and then all of a sudden that be the hot setup.

They don't seem to mind if you massage parts a little.

I don't think so the drive line to spur gear are too weak. There are some metal gears that are available that can improve the cars chances of not wearing the teeth off.

Yeah I have them installed. I'm getting a new car and would like to keep this car and try mod with it. What are the lowest turn motors you guys have tried and what have been the consequences?

I tore the teeth off in USGT with a 21.5 last weekend in 5/minutes. This set lasted 3 runs. I ordered a set of mitered gears so I am hopeful.

Crazy. I have easily 50 hrs of runtime with a 17.5, but I ran the metal bevel gears from the start. They are very noisy btw. Very noisy indeed

Agree, no issues whatsoever with original gears. I still have the Caron reinforced in my spare parts bin. for diff running steel cross pins with stock plastic gears.

Personally i feel switching to metal gears is a waste of money. You don't need it and your adding weight

Likewise.

Both my EVO6s and my TB-04 are whisper quiet. Almost as quiet as my tb03.

You guys realize that I want to put a 4.0t in right? Metal gears might come in handy.

You may need metal gears. I was just saying I haven't had gear issues. Every shaft car except the Awesomatix used plastic gears without a problem in modified. My guess is that it should be fine for mod.

I too have a EVO6 and I have no problems with it at all. My TB04 has eaten the gears on it twice. I have 6 month's of racing on my EVO6 almost every weekend so I too am puzzled why I am having gear failure.

Your gears are not shimmed correctly, you have to make sure that you have the front and rear gears shimmed perfict, this takes time but you do it right no more stripping. I have never stripped a gear, and my drive train is whisper quiet. Please do not follow the instructions when shimmin your drive train you have to do it by feel.
