what car do you guys think would be best for a beginner? 17.5 binky carpet class ....to build? to set up ? to adjust ? to maintain (buy parts)? to learn?

+1 i run a xray t4 and an ae tc6 both easy to build /set up ,id say the t4 is the easier car to drive due to a more flexable chasis

^^ This is a really good option as is the 3 Racing Sakura Zero S. I own a Spec-r S1 and i would recommend it to any beginner as a quality durable car to start racing on.

What are the guys driving at the local track? That's the way I would go, if you break and happen to not have that part most likely someone will, and the help provided by a seasoned racer is priceless..
Or go with the Xray T4, super durable and easy to build, also out of the box for a beginner the kit setup will be all you need the setup is good for most. Most guys setups aren't far from the kit setup it's a great car

Depends on if you are drifting indoor or outdoor. The TB-03 or the TB-03 VDS would be a great outdoor drifter. I wouldn't recommend the TA-05 because it is belt drive for outdoor, The belts tend not to last long. If you are on a budget the tt-01d is a solid kit.

If you want a good quality kit with plenty of support you might want to look into the Team Associated TC.4. Good starting point before you drop coin on an Xray or TC6.1wc. Test the waters before diving in young Jedi...... I dove in with a TC6.1wc and couldn't be happier, your results may vary.

I disagree. The TC4 was junk when it was released years ago and is still junk today. The S1 is a much better sedan.

TQ Racing carries the kits and parts and has excellent service and a wonderful user friendly online ordering system. I have been using them exclusively for all my parts for some time now.

Fast Little Car

For rubber tire carpet I think you can get away with a Spec-R S1 or Sakura XI, but if you're racing foam tire carpet you will probably want a stiffer, carbon fiber chassis because you want less chassis flex.

The current batch of TC's are all good in the right hands. I'd say run what you have local support for (parts + setup help) Also, when buying your equipment, support your local hobby shop!
