I'll make two comments about this situation based on what I have read:

1) I am glad the On Road Worlds are going to be in the US next year

2) With all the moaning and b****ing and arguing and complaining, "you can please some of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time". Somebody was going to complain regardless of where they held the race, whether it was all asphalt, all carpet or 12th on carpet/ISTC on asphalt. Schedule an extra day or two of practice in your preparations before leaving if youre running 12th and go for that world championship.

We are well over 12 months away from the race. Things could change as dates and plans are finalized over the next few weeks.

I urge everyone not to get all wound up about how things "are going to be" when very little is completely set in stone yet.

The only thing that is 100% for sure is that the IFMAR ISTC and 1/12 Worlds will be in Kissimmee FL. Other than that relax and stay tuned. I am sure George will release details as plans fall into place.

1) Not unless there are extra openings because all the IFMAR blocs did not use their allocation of entries if Im not mistaken
2) 1/12 Modified and Touring modified. I am pretty sure that with the sheer number of entries, there wouldnt be time for any other classes

Someone mentioned having Pro10 back on the docket, as for that, Im guessing there would need to be a significant increase in participation from all the IFMAR blocs (ROAR, FAMAR, EFRA and FEMCA) before it or WGT could be considered for an exhibition event and then full world championship status

The Worlds are always Mod 1/12 and Mod Sedan.

Chances are there will be additional entries granted to ROAR for US racers.

20-30 will qualify for 1/12 and Mod from the US based on ROAR Nats results and participation.

US racers wanting to attend can send resumes to ROAR and they will be reviewed and remaining slots will be allocated based on qualifications.

A month or two before the event they may be more slots allocated to ROAR if the race is not full. Typically slots not used by the other IFMAR blocks. If ROAR has resumes for drivers that had not yet gotten in they get the first shot. If there are still open slots ROAR can make the race open to entries at their discretion.

I am paraphrasing...you can get all the details here: http://www.ifmar.org/pdf/rules/ifmar...neral_2011.pdf

Plenty of people remember that race.
I can assure you that a certain Mr. Spashett remembers it quite well, I remember it often but then it was a great week to be a British rc racer...

The carpet was awful for the first round of practice, by the end of practice the track was actually quite good.
The reason it started bad was because they put the carpet down for the off road guys to pit on the year before. They were emptying their shock oil and who knows what all over it.
I'd like to think nobody in the US would be stupid enough to let that happen in 2014, especially with the great carpets that are available.

It has been completed. Full Throttle Speedway is now a 250'x95' dead flat, fine grain asphalt rectangle.

I'm not sure if it is the same as nitro rules but in nitro if you attended the nationals and placed well enough you will receive a letter inviting you to the worlds.
I only know this because a friend of mine showed me a letter from the end of 2011 inviting him to Thailand for the 2012 worlds.
He placed well in the nationals that was held in Chaplin Connecticut, if I'm not mistaking. But I did see the letter with my own eyes
