Hi guys,

I'm looking for some setup advise when it comes to geometry for my F201. What sort of setups can you guys recomend?

Also, I'm going to enter a interstate race on a short pile industrial carpet, does anyone have any advise or setups for this material?

Surface looks like this

Look for David Joos's set-up from Tamiya Worlds last year. The carpet is a touch different from what we raced on but it should be a good starting ponit

You have to dig around in the results side on the right side. I will try to find it but look for the World Championship links.

Is this for TCS this weekend? If so have fun and say hello to Simon

just one question here...would any of you spend more than 700 bucks on your F201 just to pimp it out and let it sit there on a shelf as a display?

anyone of you think its a shame letting a nice car collect dust?

cuz i know someone in my college who definately have too much time and money to do that!

you wouldn't be talking about a "Keith" would you?

its a lot of money to dump into a car and not to drive it.....but some people are into that. They want every cool looking part no matter what the cost. If they have the money and are willing then I say go ahead....same goes for people that pimp out their real cars.

Well you also have to consider that some of these flashy parts don't really serve a better purpose except for show.

In those pictures a few pages back of that pimped out 201, he had a hitech 5245 mini servo, does anybody else use a mini? Does it have enough speed/torque? The numbers look ok. The weight savings and the price look good.

Its too bad this class of racing wasn't bigger .. I love F1 racing. I also wish, one of the other companies (other than Tamiya) would take a stab at producing a race-bred nitro F201. I saw the one listed over on the formula1-rc.com site and was amazed! All we need are some consumer kits built by another company that comes as a chassis kit like the rest of the RC kits for around the $360 mark; man would that ever be awesome I would buy the kit in a second!

Only thing keeping me from buying an F201, is 1) its a Tamiya and 2) its electric ... those two factors alone steer me away as the Tamiya quality is more of a step up from a friggen Radio Shack car then true hobby quality kits; garbage.

Are you refering to a Tamiya kit or a Radio Shack kit being garbage?

Hey Chorner,
Don't be a hater, Tamiya=quality bare none! I don't know what part of the country your in, but here in SoCal, the F1 class is huge. It is the second largert class at TCS's drawing fields over 30 or more cars. Just my .02.

Neil,
You missed a nice practice day at the track, threw on Rod's setup on my car, and all I got to say is it's getting there. Rod may bust out his F201 to bash before the Worlds.

I really like the 201. I wish I had been able to make it out for the Nats. As stated, you have to drive the car and show it some respect, it is fragile. But you don't see Schumacer driving around like a NASCAR guy either. My advice is, if you want to beat the daylights out of something go run offroad. The 201 is a great car, it does run hot, we have found that the 19turn motors and stock gears run a little cooler. This appears to be due to the fact that you don't have to death grip the throttle to go fast.
