I'm another one with an 8mm ride height. Seems weird that there are some guys who it just worked for them, but the rest of us have this issue.

Did someone say the CF shock towers are taller? Or can we put spacers under the bulkhead covers (he says trying to imaging the car from afar)?

Just realised that there are 2 versions of CF shock tower. I have a pair coming from eBay, but not sure of the part number.. You know it's going to be the wrong one though, right? 😀

SAK-U417 (Front) and SAK-U418 (Rear) are the carbon towers you want. They actually drop the holes 3.5mm instead of raising them.

I am fairly certain the only problem is the kit springs, as they are too long. I got springs from the sakura zero and put them on an the car sits at 5mm with the shock collars very close to the top, but I didn't have to shim the shocks inside or in any way. Don't put spacers between the top and bottom of the bulkhead it will also change your roll centres and probably make the car unwieldy. I also got the PTFE coated shock shafts and bodies and oh man they made a world of difference as far as smoothness compared to the kit ones.

Also a lot of people are saying that the sakura zero S springs are garbage because they are much too stiff and here's why...

4.25T - 35.8 lb/in
4.5T - 31.7 lb/in
4.75T - 29.2 lb/in
5.0T - 26.2 lb/in
5.25T - 24.9 lb/in
5.50T - 22.9 lb/in
5.75T - 21.2 lb/in
6.0T - 20.0 lb/in
6.5T - 17.9 lb/in

Even the softest springs from the Sakura Zero are harder than the hardest springs from Team Associated (16.8lb/in yellows), people have complained about them being much too stiff to race with.

My best suggestion for you is to get some springs that fit properly in the neighbourhood of 12-15lbs/in and run them on the front and rear, if you need to change the handling a bit or if the body rolls too much when turning then put slighter stiffer springs on the fronts.

Hopefully the spring swap on its own will fix your ride height conundrum.

When on the car, fully loaded (except the body), the shocks measure 50mm. What do others read when they have 5mm ride height?

I'm just trying to work out what length springs I need.

Default Springs

I bought any old touring car springs from eBay and my car can not get down [easily] below 5mm.
As others have said, the ones in the kit are too long!

The 2 springs on the left are kit ones. The other ones are yeah racing springs. Definitely big difference

It's the carbon chassis really over 100g lighter than the standard? The 3racing Web site suggests that it's 66g, as opposed to over 200g for the std chassis.
Unless I'm reading the website wrong (net weight)! 😀

Update: Just thinking about it and there is obviously no way the std chassis weighs over 200g.. Doh!

I thought my new build went too smoothly (wasn't expecting that). But as luck would have it, I ran into snag setting up the suspension to the one 3Racing provided in the back of the instruction manual. No matter what I did I couldn't get the proper ride height at all (8mm was all I could get) until I changed to slightly lighter springs I had left over from a 3racing shock set for my M05 (they are still too heavy though).

Yeah,got that set on order.

Okay,so I'm setting mine up for GT class. I don't have a motor analyser or dyno, but any idea how close manufacturers suggested gearing and preset timing are to start tuning from? I'm using a Hobbywing V10 G2 21.5T motor if it maters.

I'm thinking about getting an XI Sport. Can someone tell me how long the drive belts last in this model? Also, I've heard that the screws don't go in very well in this car. Is that true?

The belts are reinforced and of high quality.
Screws go in fine. You'll notice a difference based on the tools used (basic Dynamite stuff vs honeycomb Arrowmax stuff).

Are you running at NASCAR or CARCAR? Best bet would be to ask the local guys what they are setting that motor at.

My son and I have 2 Sakura XI sport with same Trackstar d99x servo.
We always have to adjust steering trim to make the car go straight.
I am new to touring but I never had it do this so often with my buggies.

After very small crashes we always have to trim the steering which is annoying.

Is there something wrong? Should I add servo saver ? XI sport does not seem to have one.

Thanks in advance for your help!
