Getting the ultimate is not a bad idea. I went the other way and bought ssk's and aluminum bulkheads and toe blocks for my Xi Sport, which is actually a little cheaper. Either way, the end result is a nice car for under $300.

If you go the Xi Sport direction, the floating servo mount and aluminum steering are the first upgrades i would reccomend.

Ball bearings are included, so you may not need a spare set right off the bat.

Got a used TC4 in a trade and was thinking about getting it VTA legal. It's in rough shape and I'm almost thinking getting one of these would end up being cheaper overall...

This or an F1...

Funky looking chrome diff. Aluminum arms look cool...but never worked out well for me in the past. it's also an off-pink/off-red.

Not a bad looking clone. For that price though, a person could order 2 Xi sport kits and the express shipping.

I went the XI sport route with the floating servo mount and aluminum steering upgrade. I can't wait to build it and start racing again and smoke all these $500 and up kits haha...jk...not really.

In Slovenia we still have small team with SAKURA XI Sport. I didn't do any trainings for the indoor sesion, so my trainings were in fact races.

So on the 4th indoor race in new track AJM MSM Maribor I managed to TQ and got 2nd place.

Default Setup Questions

Hi guys,
I really suck at setups and usually just read what guys are doing on forums and go from there. I just run 1/8 nitro and SCT at a locat loose dirt track so setup has not been that big O deal for me in the past.

Went to my 1st touring car practice session on carpet...Holly smokes, those guys are fast even on a blinky 17.5!!!!

So even with the approved tires and tire sauce, when giving throttle, the car wants to spin out and always feel very twitchy and slow to respond.
My steering servo is an old Futaba 9402

Setup:
1- No droop screw (If I need them, how do you measure where to stop?)
2- No sway bar (they are on their way)
3- Stock setup for diff and shock oils
4- My radio is a GTX3 and i read there could be latency issues (I tried an X-ray with a good radio and I could feel the difference in steering response
5- My FDR was 6.07 so this could possibly cause wheel spin.
6- 1.5 degrees camber
7- 5.2mm ride height (then had to make it higher cause the frame is crooked)
8- 0 degrees tow in/out

Thanks guys!!!

since XI Sport are great starters. Is it necessary to install anti-roll bar? I'm planning to run it on cement track which is low traction.

I don't run this car. But that doesn't matter regarding your problem. Try to copy a Tamiya, xray or setup to start if you can't find this cars setup from someone. Your car is completely wrong to go fast around the track. 17.5 blinky should be geared for a final gear ratio of 3.8 to 4.5 So, your top speed probably was really slow. Also probably caused your motor to get hot. Have a local setup guy go thru your car. And learn from him. PM me if you want me to really help you setting up your car.

Thanks guys,(00000000000000000000), I cant read the text on you picture :-(
my motor was room temp, top speed very slow. I'm just waiting for my 66T 48P spur. The biggest pinion I could fit with the stock 85T was a 33T

Cheers,

Download and resize, it should be legible. I'll make a new one tonight, as my setup slightly changed.

Rod, the xi sport bulkheads and motor mount won't properly attach to the Zero chassis plates and rear shock tower. Also, the diff cams are totally different. Bummer, cause i thought i was about to make a franken-sakura. Those dreams have been dashed. LoL.
