Have tested yesterday for the first time on my Team Orion V2 Reinard 12x1.

Had it approx. 30 minutes on the motor. In the car. Next test will out of the car because I was cooling the motor mount too!!

Lowest temp of Endbell: 4 degr. celcius
Lowest temp of motor: 5 degr. celcius

I was not able to sink it to 0.

Ambient temp was approx. 16 degr celsius.

Motor ran first 1,5 minute of a run like hell. Then the effect was gone.
But endtemp after a run was 10 degrees lower than without cooling.

So i'm happy.....

Only I have to check if rust / water is an issue in the motor....

which temperature minimum is acceptable for the motor ?

thanks and sorry for my english
I have to agree. My hobby room is between 71-74degrees and after an hour of testing to see if ice develops...nothing but condensation. Don't get me wrong, I do notice a difference on the track with performance and motor temps. But be forewarned- DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE -JB

I own a MR cooler and it's been disappointing thus far. I was in an A/C room around 70 degree ambient temp, doesn't matter how long, frost never came up. when you open the cooler up, there are some design flaws in it. So I spent the last 2 days building my own.... $45 worth of parts and it goes below freezing in 5 mins. Frost and all! I have no idea how they achieve that photo with the cooler with frost on it... probably in the winter in Alaska.

I would have to agree with the post above...with the motor mounted in car, and cooler running for 40 mins, the motor reached 6 degree C.

Out of the car (not cooling mount / wiring etc) im sure it could get colder, but I dont see how the ice would form, unless it wasnt connected to anything and left to just cool the motor clamp alone.

I think its a worthwhile gadget, especially in summer, but dont expect ice in 5-10 mins.

King-G, the Clarkes were using one at the ACT indoor titles, it was frosting up and the heaters were turned on inside the building.

What temp does the arm get to, wouldn't it be more worthwhile freezing the armature aswell?

yes the arm gets cold also, the longer you leave it the more heat is pumped out of the whole assemblely

Where did you get your peltier Dom? I built one too.. got the peltier at Fry's. It will frost up by itself but when I attach a motor it just sweats like crazy. Gets cold though. I think I need a better heatsink setup it to get the frosty action.

Default This a cooler!

This cooler is from the HPI works challenge Singapore 2005. This looks like it could start another ice age!

Tom,

It's not just about the peltier, but find the right heatsink, size of cold transfer plate to use, materials, density of the heatsink... But I think I hit the head of the nail on this one.... don't mean to hijack this thread, but here is after 30mins today on my bench.

And this falls off after I turn it off.
