rubber tire resurfacing?
Is there a way to remove the top layer of rubber without ruining the tires? I have a bunch of Take Off CS 27's that I would love to get more use out of but traction is running slim on them.
Any help would be appreciated of anything I can do that wouldn't ruin the tires.

Do you clean them? I clean my tires with simple green between rounds and makes them like new.

Normally I use motor spray which seems to get them very clean, but I have stopped using that cause I noticed it causes them to crack.

wd-40 will soften the tires if kept in a plasic bag. The longer you keep it in the softer it will become, this is good for cleaning them up, thn after apply the tracion sauce.

If you look at the specs on the integy/eagle lathes, some say they will resurface rubber tires with the special bit? I enquired about that. And it's absolute BULL SH*T. Think about it; the tire has a round cross section but the cross feed on the lathe is straight. What will you achieve? Besides, when the top surface on rubbers is used, it's used! What is turning it good for? All I remember is for certain spec classes that limits the use of crappy tires, scuffing them with coarse sand paper on a lathe makes them grip better. In any case, the best you can do is clean the tires with cleaner as suggested above. If you run on carpet and neglect to clean your tires you will find a tough crud on the edges that need scraping to remove.

even with cleaning the tires I get the crud on the edges on a few of the tires and I think that is what is causing the loss of traction. Maybe I will try a very fine sandpaper and see if that will help a bit. I do clean my tires after every run and that does seem to help some.

I had a feeling that was what was going on. That's why I stopped using motor spray.
If I can get 7 or 8 runs out of them I will be happy. If not, then I buy more!!!
