Well I just finished the build and I must say there was not much sanding or shimming required. As always Schumacher is amoung the best in quality of materials and fit/finish. I do have a question though, why did they move away from using the alloy screws on the arm mounts in the front? I'm thinking it has something to do with the crash stops that they have added but I'm not sure.

I bet the crush stop and oring mount pivot replace the role of alu screws. I dont like alu screws there break too easy, ti is better. I probably will kerp using ti on the pivot as extra safty measure on my up coming evo

Nice build for sure. A small set of build shots over on the Action R/C facebook page (but nothing you haven't already seen in the release photos). We'll have a review up after first track day on Saturday.

Started my build last night. So far so good I like all the changes but wish they would have made the center pulley setup less sloppy. But when the belts are on its not as noticeable.

Had a second evening of training with the new Mi5 Evo. Tried the car on both Sorex and Ride tires. And I improved my personal track records of both at my hometrack! really nice car and that after just a couple of battery's

What an amazing car!

As for the crash stops. I run without them and I've switched to aluminium screws. I like the methode and this saves some weight.

thecaptain, yes I ran the Mi5 previously so I should be able to compare lap time and qualifying times.

Poochy, not going to make the Charity race. I will however try to come out this Sunday to run with you guys...

First runs on the car tonight. Outdoors, bumpy, medium traction, running in modified. Really, really liked the car. Rain cut the night a bit short, but enough to know the underlying pace is there, the character of the car is more direct, more responsive, more agile than the Mi5. Couldn't be happier with the first runs.

We're going to love this car.

So my build is done... and have to say been very impressed.

Quality has taken a real step forward. In particular, the plastics are much improved, both from a fit/finsh side, and the design of some of the parts, such as the wishbone ends.
In particular the new ball cups are much improved in consistency between cup to cup. Pop on nice and tight, but still free. Also liking the moulded in anti-roll bar balls.
The shocks also stand out. Built totally dead, and every shock the same first time.. although only after ditching the kit o-rings (as usual). Gotta love the ball joint tops though....

I have been passed on a couple of tips on helping to free up the wishbone sockets (youtube video loading now), and look out for a blog post in a week or so, after I get to give it it's first run... but the list of build tips etc is pretty short at the moment (a good thing!).

Still, she be light... and I physically can't get the ESC any closer to the centre line, the belt gets in the way!!

Cheers
Ed
