Tried both pre tapping and not pre tapping. and I was using a 4X15mm Screw instead. Result was the same.

I am not a driver that hits boards every lap, I am quick, and do not hit the boards often. I am the top ranked driver for 2 classes at my Local club, EP8 and Stock TC and rank high in the 4 classes I race. So it is not poor driving.

I think the saver will help it a lot.

I will report back with the results.

Also make sure that you are not over tightening those screws. You just the TINNIEST bit of snug, and you're done. The more you tighten, the more stress you put on the plastic threads.

That being said, I am having similar issues with mine. I am very careful to not over tighten, and I have had them slowly strip from general use... no board hitting. I'm hoping that not using the set screw at all, and using the better screws instead of the kit supplied bolts, will help.

Not at all! You can get 3 brands of 16lb springs and each will make you car handle differently.

You can make a spring of any given weight with different wire sizes by varying the number of coils.

Instead of using the included kingpin you use a 4x14mm button head screw so you have more threads into the steering block.

I'm looking to get a new TC and narrow my search between YOKOMO BD7 and MI5... Currently running Tamiya 417X.... I always like Schumacher I use to race the MI3 and MI4 but might experience with those 2 Schumacher chassis I can't say I'm satisfied due MI3/MI4 is track sensitive I always find myself chasing setup every time I go on a different track...

How's the MI5 with setup on different surface?

Most cars are like that....I haven't encountered too many cars that went to multiple tracks and did not need changes (whether a few or a lot).

BD7? read that thread again..then again....
I think there are only two options at this time...Mi5 or Xray.
just my opinion...but I have just about every car that has come out.

X-ray is pretty much out they alway release new car prematurely and end 6 months down the road new car is coming out... YOKOMO I must say is the best TC I have ever owned... I'm pretty much sold to yoks but the innovative design of Schumacher is what intrigues me and want me to get one.. I know setup change is needed on different track but with my experience with the MI3/MI4 is I have to completely change the setup the chassis is very sensitive in weight transfer on different track surface.. I don't mind changing setup but I don't like it either taking the whole car a part to adapt to a different surface...

Default king pin/hub update and spur

King Pin and Front hub

Just to let Mi5 owners know. The guys at Schuie have listened and made a couple of small running changes to fix the king pin issue (as described by some on here and also by myself twice now - but only after decent crash)

There is a new front hub (spindle carrier) that does not have a chamfer on the hole. This should allow the thread of the current king pin or the newer updated one to 'bite' into the material better and not come loose or be dislodged after an accident.

The second item to have a running update made is a new king pin. It is slightly longer than the current (kit) one.

I believe that both items have started shipping or will be shipping soon. They are a running change (so I believe their will be no new part numbers for the updated 2 parts)

I am sure Chris or Matt will post if the part numbers change.

Spurs
For people who wish to run other spurs, RW are the only company at this time to make spurs to fit the Mi4/5 series of cars. (both in 48 and 64dp and in loads of sizes for all classes) These spurs are dead true and are machined delrin.

Hope this helps.

Leonard.
