Had my first race with the Mi5 last night. I haven't driven a sedan in months. I have been racing 1/12 and WGT so I had to unlearn the never lift all the way, drive it hard into corners style those cars require.

I started with the kit carpet setup. Like everyone said, the car has loads of steering. It needed some rear stability so I changed to white springs and 40wt oil in the rear. Later I stood the rear shocks up one hole and went to 50wt oil in front. Every change had the desired effect, more rear stability with no reduction in steering.

The Mi5 kit setups seem to have no camber gain at all. Next time I want to try putting a little more camber gain in the car, possibly the 3 dink 39mm camber link plates.

I also want to raise the roll centers. The chassis never touched down but the car seemed to be rolling a lot. I have 1mm spacers under the pivot balls. I want to try 2mm next. I think there is some corner speed to be had here.

Durability...flawless. The abundance of steering made me turn in too early a few times. I had a few high speed run ins with our firmly bolted down drain pipe walls. My front hubs stayed tight all night long. My caster blocks got a little sloppy in the front arms but one .005" shim in each side cured this.

I know I have only scratched the surface of what this car can do. Really looking forward to my next run.

What are you chasing? We have a bunch of parts in Brisbane and have more stuff arriving all the time (today springs and the 2.5 and 2 deg rear arms among other stuff). Maybe shoot me a PM or email scott (at) actionrc.com.au and I'll check if we have what you're after.

Next batch of kits should be in the air in the next 24 hours too.

Race meeting #3 for the car here this weekend with interclub series. Looking forward to it! Just rebuilt the car with 2 deg rear arms for 17.5 blinky.

Are you running the 2 deg on carpet or asphalt?

I almost always run 3 deg no matter the class. If your car is loose on corner entry try more rear toe in first.

We often run less rear toe in spec blinky classes - particularly on big open tracks. Helps with slightly more straight line speed. If it's not good we can easily go back to 2.5 or 3.

As an aside, changing arms is quite easy - leaving all the upright, ball joints etc attached to the moulded end piece and just switching the carbon arm.

I usually run less toe in also and am anxiously awaiting the alternate arms to become available. On a low to medium grip carpet track, I've gotten away with 0 degrees in 17.5 blinky and have really liked how the car changed directions. Of course, that was with my S411 and TC6.1, the Mi5 with stock arms is already running circles around them with the mid motor conversion.

Default Mi5

Still waiting for some parts to show up from Schumacher that were wrong in my kit. Decided to order them from Stormer as well if Schumacher doesn't come through. Vented caps and spring assortment coming also!

Third run with the mi5 last night and the car just keeps getting faster! Mid motor and Hoffer setup on carpet - brilliant!

I raced tonight, the off road track is being rebuilt at our facility so no more carpet racing til next week. On a good note, I did manage to win the main after closing the gap to the leader after a rough first lap and then checked out. The carpet was getting dirty as the night went on so the car was getting a little fussy but still had confidence in what it was going to do.
