No,no! All the setups I've seen use the screws and spacers so leave them in. If you tighten the screws without the spacers, the top deck will bow and cause handling problems. It's not just a pinion fitment issue. In the back of the user manual are some well thought out setups for both carpet and pavement. Definitely use them as a good starting point.

yes, i already setup the car with the asphalt low traction setup sheet as a starting point.

i've fitted an kyosho 96t64p spur from my tf5. and the 50t64p pinion, giving me and FDR of 3.74.

i'm gonna check the temp for the racing time and adjust the motor mechanical timing.

Unless you're running on a pretty large track, your FDR may be a little low. I would suggest a 45 or 46 tooth pinion. You want to be around 4.0 FDR in 13.5 blinky. Do you have the regular D4 or the short stack? If it's a SS, try 44-45t pinion first. Your end bell timing should be around 40 deg. to start.

Well, those are bigger tracks... Very nice!
Ok, then... 3.8FDR could be a good place to start.

You'll probably end up even lower than the 3.8 on those tracks.

Likely, but starting on the conservative side might be a wise decision till he figures out how temps factor in.

of course i'll be starting from the bottom. i'm not that experienced on 1/10 touring.

i believe the Q minutes that we are running are 5, and the finals are 10 minutes

i'll be adjusting mi FDR and mechanical timing around the motor and esc temp within those 10 min.

i think i'll be running the durango for the first time on dec 24th (this Thursday) and post a few pics

The manual has a good starting setup for both low and high grip carpet. I would start there.
