Good question and I would also like to know if any spur does the job as I know usually Tamiya run 3mm diff balls and can you run the slightly larger 3.2 imperial size as i have a few of those in ceramic and have a serpent spur thats the size i want to use.

The upper ball is still supported by the spring.

The lower is held in between the carbon arm which is shaped to the ball and the aluminium king pin end which is also shaped.

Leespeed direct drive spur gears. Many options, even inner/outer width. http://www.leespeed-racing.com

It still wobbles a bit, but not more than any 1/12th scale i've ever owned.

It is supposed to wobble a bit, the diff plates squeeze the balls, not the gear, and therefore the spur gear wobbles.
If it does not wobble at all, the diff rings squeezes the gear, so no diff action.
I like Kimbrough gears 48 pitch
They use the 3,2 imperial size balls.

Exotek all the way.
Only issue for me is the odd size diff balls.
Aside from that....They are my go to F1 spur.

Tq racing has them, but I usually make my own.

I'm not sure what length wire TQ has, but I make mine with custom lengths.

Nope! I'm in talks with a friend to make something like this with small LED's that will bolt into the Tamiya rear wing's 5mm hole:

On a side note: http://www.shapeways.com/product/XHS...ionId=56050499
