I guess I don't follow where I am supposed to add the spacer back on top. Do I add it under the upper brace to space the upper arms up so I get my travel back?

You need to add the spacers between the upper arm and the steering block to raise your ride height.
To lower the ride height you'll ahve to add spacers below the steering block.
But each time you make a change you'll have to relocate the position of the steering block.

Yes it will, I just put the 101 front end on the 101W and the chassis is the same thing only difference is the 101W chassis is now thinner for more flex.
Needed the servo mounts and everything else from the 101 to get it done.

Time to test it out.

just a quick question, can the trf101w take f103 foams?

On the front: no, use F104 foams

A foam is more like a black/ yellow/ gray type foam. B is like purples. B would probably be a better place to start, more like the 15th anniv. premount. A is more like the 103RM kit foam.

F103 fronts will not fit a 101W. Axle diameters are the same for 103 and 101W. However the diameter of the f103 rim is to small to fit over the 101W front suspension. Therefore I mount the f104 front rim on the front, and f103 in the rear. In this way the 101W is 200 mm all round...

You should have tried them before you gave a definite response to fitment concerns.
The F103 front foam tire/rim does fit the TRF 101W front end.
I've run them.
That is the first setup I put on the car thinking TCS Japan may just be 200mm this year.

Yeh Rob it's ready and has been since about 8 hours after taking it home.

BTW Purple fronts on my 103 got me one of my Regional wins back then thanks to Rodzilla's secret stash.

Default Rear diff issues!!!!

I have the 101 and am running on carpet, I am using the otional TRF trust bearing and have turned around the coned washers. The issue I have is that when applying power no matter how hard I crank down the diff it seems to spin. What should I be using to lude the diff balls and is there any way to stiffen up the diff without locking it all the way up? I am running on indoor carpet and think the 101 is a good car,I just need to get the pop out of the corners. Thanks

you can use Tamiya AW grease , instead of the standard diff grease. you can also try to stiffen the side springs (pre contraint or harder springs)

I would just try to reassemble the diff. What works for me is to assemble the diff with car lying on its left side, mount the nut so there is small play, tap the car so everything sit down nicely and then tighten the nut.

What is your gearing?

Sand the diff rings with something like #400 paper. They should not be polished smooth, you want some tooth.

I still use Associated silicone lube (red lettering NOT stealth lube). Some guys use stuff like Tamiya a/w grease, but I personally feel like non silicone lubes change a lot during the run

Use a diff gear with a lot of balls. Kimbrough is 12, Zen has 16, and Exotek is 16 as well.

Rubber tires put a lot more stress on the diff, and its pretty hard to get 100% lock up.
