Wouldn't it be just as easy to warm with a heater before running.

It helps but doesn't do the same thing. Trust me I've tried and tested it over and over. High charge rate and heating from the inside is better.

Looks like good performance packs.

What power supply are you using to feed the 4010? Are you charging to the 4.2V per cell each time?

I am using a 47 amp server power supply. The 4010 charger has a step up converter inside. So Ive charged two packs at the same time at 40 amps each off of the 47 amp power supply with no issues at all. It only draws 36 amps when charging at 40 and 40.

Yes I charge to 4.2V unless its a race that allows more then I go to what ever that limit is.

If you use two or three of the HP servo power supply's things run a lot cooler. But you have to float the ac ground on all but one PS.

My power supply never cracks a sweat. Ive only charged two packs at 40 at the same time a few times and you could just barely feel it warm. 2 packs at 30 and its still room temp. I havent seen the need to worry about running it as a 24v setup yet. But I suppose if you were charging say 2 4S packs it would probably get warm due to using more wattage.

Charging at 40+ amps is fast.
And has no ill effects on the lipos.

I believe you need a minimum of 20 amps to get the IR benefits out of your lipos.
This would be enough to get the heat in them on first charge.

All you need is a 20 amp power supply if you don't have one already.

Ive been charging at 40 amps since December with the ICharger Duo 4010 came out. I raced every week all the way up till the birds. I only keep two packs to my name at a time. I practice and race on those two packs every week in TC. Those packs are still good today as they were new in December. The 40 amps thus far has not shown any ill effects at all. Generally when I go to the track its 4-5 charges per pack per day. There were some 3 day races in there too.

The pack I won the birds with was charged at 40 amps every single charge. I used it in both 17.5 and 13.5 TC all week in every practice and every race. Then I sent it to Josh Cyrul and he did the same with it in Modified and 13.5 sedan which he won both classes. That battery was put through hell and still cycles the same as it did when it was new a week before the birds.

The key to keeping batteries fresh is USING THEM! And making sure they dont sit with a full charge or zero charge in them. Not being used is a Lipo's worst enemy I have found.

That means the ROAR champ is a cheat! The rules do not allow charging at more than 1C! He should have been dq-ed!

It is very sad to see people are pushing the limits again on lipo's. Although there are knowledgable people around and charging at higher currents is not directly unsafe, it just takes one bonehead attempting something stupid to gain an edge and there is a lipo fire. And they are not nice!

If we all just use the rule and charge at 1C (or change it to 2c to save time) all this heating of pack tomgain an edge would not exist. Now everybody is more or less forced to charge at ridiculous currents... Especially in the 'stock' classes where the new guys with the least knowledge of what is fast and what is dangerous are....

Have fun with 40 amps. Thanks for making life more difficult than it should.
