Default dead shorting and 19t

i know alot of people dead short their batteries that race stock but do people do it for 19t. i am not sure if you will still get enough run time out of it or if the power will drop off during the run. i want to make sure batteries will still be good for 19t after they have been dead shorted before i start to do it

Just depends. I've had some packs that I've deadshorted and some I haven't. It seemed to me the deadshorted ones didn't last as long over time, but they were fast. I've heard other people say otherwise though. It all depends in how you do it I guess.

with good cells you should have plenty of run time after dead shorting for 19T. Definately more punch with dead shorting.

If I'm going to store my batts until next winter should I discharge them down to 0 on a tray then deadshort them for that long?

It's probably not a good idea to leave the batteries discharged for an extended period of time. I'm not totally sure, but I think the general rule of thumb is to leave at least some charge in a battery if it is going to be stored.

For carpet at least most people dead short their packs for 19t. Even on big layouts (like the nationals track) I had plenty of runtime with deadshorted packs, and most tracks arent so wide open so you should be fine.

If its a healthy pack, there should be no problem with making runtime after shorting it.

As for storage, a shorted battery seems to only get better when sitting for prolonged time, where as a normally discharged pack seems to deteriorate.

The longest i have left a pack shorted is 3 months and it was great on the first cycle back.
