Shock rebound

I want to know if this is common. A few minutes ago I changed the shock springs from white front and blue rear to yellow all around so i can work from a base as it's my first adjustable car. When i push down on the car the shocks on the back and frontdont go back to there full lenth, may this be because the preload adjuster doesnt compress the spring on either and leaves a slight gap?

The adjuster is for ride height. Rebound is when there is no spring attached and the shock rebounds all the way. This is personal preference. Some racers prefer all rebound, some prefer no rebound, some prefer the shock to compress by itself. It's all relevant to what you want. The oil inside will actually serve as a dampening only. Hope this helps.
