Okay, a while ago I got a used TC4 brushless RTR. Fun car, but I can't keep it going straight on power. Just seems like something is off with the set up. According to the manual, the car is set up from the factory. I've tried disconnecting the rear sway, loosening rear shocks and tightening fronts, etc. the only things left I can try are swapping the tires for some new rubber, as I have a set of older rally tires on it now. I figured they would be great since my street isn't that smooth, but maybe not. Also one of the rear wheels vibrates just a tiny bit, so I think I'll swap the bearings in that. Basically up to maybe 20mph the car is fine. Any faster, or a blip of throttle, and it becomes uncontrollable. Way too much oversteer it feels like. I'm pretty sure the car is geared for around 40mph, but I can't get it even going thirty straight without a catastrophic crash. What are some other things to try?

Side note, I know the motor is a hobby wing, not sure of the size. ESC is a 45amp, and I'm running the car on 2s.

First, there is no such thing as " loosening" or " tightening " shocks. What you mean is ( I assume) you are probably playing with the shock preload collars and that's bad; they are here to adjust ride height and nothing else. If you mess with them you'll have to mess with the droop screws to maintain ride height and that's again not what they are intended for. These grub screws in the arms are a very sensitive adjustment to alter the behavior of the car and you should definitely stay close to the values given in the manual.

So the first thing I would recommend is following the setup manual to the " T ", it will most likely give you a healthy base. Check your tire gluing and / or try 4 new tyres- better, 4 new racing belted tyres that won't baloon over a certain speed. Use around 5 mm ride height all around. Get rid of both sway bars for now.

If the problem persists, take the whole car apart ( I mean entirely, screw by screw) and check every single thing. Bent hinge pins, leaky shocks, crusty bearing, binding cardan joint or steering assembly, etc. - be thorough. It can sound like a chore but you always find something wrong.

You may also want to double check your caster settings. I believe that car had a different chub for each caster setting. Make sure they are not the 0 degree ones.
I'm not sure if its possible on a tc4 but if the front c's are backwards that will cause all kinds of handling problems.

Check that all of the wheel spin freely.
