Stock Racing Diff Spool or one way.

Hi Guys, what is the fastest setup in stock? say on anytrack. I know track to track certain setups would be harder to drive but what would ultimatley be the fastest setup.

It really depends on the track. On our last layout (asphault, prepared surface) I dropped about a second and a half with a one-way. We just rebuilt it this week and a diff or spool would definitely be the way to go.

Just depends on the layout and surface.

For carpet (CRC Daytona carpet), you want diffs all the way around and as smmmooooth as possible.

I just rebuild the diffs in my X-Ray and made the spin like butter, I dropped on average 2 to 3 tenths a lap!!! (For carpet it's all about carrying corner speed, on pavement it's about finding traction).

For pavement, I really don't have much experience with it. From what it appears, a one way is generally the way to go (would give you smooth off power steering, and sick on power acceleration).

on a track like this: see link below:

grip is high......

Looks pretty flowing and fast. I would probably try a one way.

Yeah, I would definately start with a one-way. If for some reason it is too touchy off power switch to a spool. Dont think I would run a front diff there unless the track was really slick.

Hey Ricky,

Go for the spool, I have been using it alot recently and got the car really good. I was racing Baxter at aldershot sunday and was all over his car in the finals. I was the quickest car and on for a 19laps in 11s. The car was awesome through the infield and will be trying the same setup at wlrc this weekend. Where you racing sunday??

you guys been using spool huh? how about the shaft wear?
how often you change your out drives?

Andyg01 05-07-2005 02:00 AM

Ditto for Barham, I ran spool, but I have some other ideas to use so JP stays in his correct place behind me :)

Looks like a one-way track to me, but if you get a good set-up with what ever front drive you decide to use, you'll be quick :tire:
